thoughts on this jensen hu i'm considering.

see i know, their regular cd players are weaksauce. but this one claims to be 50 x 4 (max), 18 x 4 (rms), plays dvd/mp3/vcd/svcd, has a built in tv tuner, am/fm, etc. its decent, and i'm not planning to pay 800$ for it, i think on canal i could get it for like 400-500$, if so i'd really take it into consideration.

another thing i want to see is the gui interfaces, and the extent to which you could fuck with the built in eq, but honestly i think its a decent product (what do i know?).

at worst, if it sounds crappy (speaker wise), i'd just use a 4channel amp to power the interior speakers and a mono amp for the 12in L7 solobaric i plan to get.

it has two a/v inputs, one for which i'd use for my iPod, and the other for a mini ps2 (possible).

it also says it's screen is 1.15 megapixels, and i saw in person at best buy, looked great in terms of clarity (only got to see ps2/tv channels).

any thoughts? discuss.

seems like it could be good. i would try to find a different one though, because for maybe $100 more, you could get the pioneer in dash, the 6500 or 6600 one. jenson isnt good, but theyre arent shitty either. definatly better than pyle and pyramid and that crap. probably even with sony. i think it will be good.

see the thing at hand is, i want in dash dvd, i <3 all pioneer headunits, especially the avic-n1, and thats what i've always wanted. but i live in the bronx, currently in the ghetto, and soon to be moving to the 'burbs. even so, i'm sure people would eventually attempt to break into my car, but trust me my alarm game is gonna be right, 2way alarm, hooked up to air horns and police strobes. but at worst, i'd rather cut my losses by not having a relatively expensive hu, but all the features i want.

i'm sure it rox the sony, sony sucks. pyramid and pyle suck donkey balls. its decent, not exactly what i shot for, but the only thing i'm unsure of is, will it last? and will the gui's look like windows 3.1. its rms of 18 x 4, is decent because i will prolly only get a mono amp for my sub and leave the interior hooked up to the HU for the time being.

i love my pioneer. older first model but still one of the cleanest sounding in terms of the processor 5.1 the screen clarity is excellent.

how much did you pay, preinstallation? and what model do you have?

the pioneer was one of the first true indash dvd with 5.1 under 5 g's so the price wasnt so bad at the time. with alpine coming out with lower price indash dvd's pioneer has since lowered there prices also and keep in mind that the alpines do not come with 5.1 digital either. i know they obviously have one. but at 1500 for just the monitor and 800 and 4000 for the processors. thats alot of cash then of course alpine had some issues with there motorization back then too so 22oo for a system that still kicks ass wasnt to bad.

as for picture quality this is a shot off my 50 dollar digital cam. and that cam sux



not saying the one you might get is worthless just trying to justify the 2200 price. and before the alpine discussion comes up yes i have used alpine a cva 1003, a cva 1005, and several head units. i still have a cva 1004 in my garage. *in a box
