    amp question =[

i got a Alpine M series 1000 watt mono amp and 3 10" MA audio subs. i bought a JL audio W6 12" and i was testing it. i know it doesn't work but i got it for like free, and i unhooked my wires from my 3 10" MA audio subs and hooked another one up to my Alpine amp > JL audio SUB. it didn't work as planned. i plugged my 3 10" MA audio subs and now they don't work i checked the 4 fuses on the side for my amp (20AMP) they all work and are not blown. the amp has a blue light and seems to have power. i turned the car on and off and checked my BIG 80a fuse and still works. i checked my subs with a small battery to see if they still work and they do work. what could be wrong? i'm so fucking pissed right now. i hooked up an ipod to a RCA cable and hooked it up to the line in on my Alpine amp and still NO BUMP!! =[

Well, you have a power signal, both the main power and the remote. The subs work, since you say you checked it. The only other thing it could be are the rca inputs. Since you have power and what not, your just not getting an audio signal.

yeah no audio signal. i did plug up an ipod with a small headphone plug to RCA adapter and still no bump whatsoever. i can always try another RCA wire straight to the deck tho (PITA!)

I don't think it's the rca's from the head unit. Didn't you say you plugged an auxiliary cord from the Ipod to the amp? or did you plug it from the Ipod to the head unit?

If you did the Ipod to the amp, then it's gotta be something with the rca inputs on the amp its self

It's most likely the amp's output on the circuit board. It happened to one of my amps too. And also, everyone should know if an amp turns on there is NO reason to check the fuses. I don't know why people ask that.

Nah, you should be able to take it to a stereo store and they can fix it for ya. I've got a guy here in town that'd fix that, probably not charge me anything, and have it done in a few minutes

Take the cover off of the amp and look at the wiring on it. I had a problem with my JL amp where the sub would make weird ass noises. I took it apart and saw that a wire had come loose so I soldered it back and problem solved. It worked perfect after that.

there are reasons to check fuses... the amp may get power but if its turned up and then it goes into protect u need to check fuses. fuse holders melt and cause a bad connection but enough of one to turn things on.

to the OP did anything get drop on or bump in the amp? sumthing had to happen to make the rca's go out.

i tried 2 dif. rcas straight to the deck and still no sound. dif wires all the way to the subs still no luck! remote cable is fine. power cable is fine. seems to be grounding fine or it wouldn't turn on.

i took the amp and opened it up from the bottom and it looks fine

                        idk what it could be.

If it draws enough power to turn the amp on it will also draw enough power to output to the subs. Otherwise either the amp won't turn on or it'll just keep melting the connection while the subs are playing until it loses power entirely.
