I just got a pair of 6-1/2" Kenwood KFC-1689ie's for my 91 accord. I want to put them in the rear of my car. They came with new speaker wire but I was wondering if keeping the old speaker wires would hurt performance. I would rather just connect the old wires then have to re-wire the speakers. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Help with Speaker wires

there would probably be a small small difference that probably can barley be heard. u should be ok with the stock wires from what ever deck that you have. usually people upgrade the wires when comming from an amp or some nice component sets.
but with the way ur running, maybe a stock deck or an aftermarket deck you are fine....now if ur running an amp, then thats a different story but since ur not ur all good to go.
what kinda deck u runnin. What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

thanks
I'm not near my car and i dont know the exact model but it is a AIWA head unit. I'm working on a deal to get 2 subs and an amp but that wont be till the future. Thanks for your help. One other thing if you know.... When I do replace the wires how do you get the wires out of the harness safely. I know a trick to keep track of the wires path through the body(attach a string and pull it through) but I cant figure out how to get them out of the harness<IMG SRC="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid93/p445d3380efd2ad3b519e9a4060b036c0/fa45b9df.jpg" ALT="fordjoke">

i would leave the factory wiring alone even when running new wires that way it is easier to remove the wire you spent your money on and still have a back to stock system wired if by chance you ever sell the car...i have never removed the factory wiring or ever seen a shop do that unless it is some new fad..but the shop hourly labor would be outragous.

The stock wiring is actually a better quality wire (it's stronger) than the wires that come with your speakers. They give those wires for people who don't have a choice but to pass wires or for custom installs. You won't see a difference unless you buy quality aftermarket OFC speaker wire.
Keep the OEM wires unless you run a power amplifier to your speakers.
if you plan to buy subs and an amp, but you only use your amp for your subs, your setup is perfect as it is.
Enjoy the music!!CAI soundz so good........
But not as good as a full Eclipse Sound system

well yeah the stock wiring is ok if only running off deck power...as it is always maxed when written all over the box and head unit but as for amp add on...select the proper gauge there is a formula to figure out what gauge at what length and what power the amp is...similar to the power wire formula. just cant seem to remember what it is i use 14 gauge always and 12 at least to the subs as short as possible of course...length equals resistance no matter what.
