I say stick to what you know, and what you've heard before. JL's Rockfords Audiobahn's Visoniks are all good subs.... but you gotta go to mamma and papa shops

Personally, I would stay away from Volf's. I have not heard many good things. I have learned the hard way, with car audio, that like many other things, you get what you pay for. I had a few sub/amp setups before I got my JBL/Adire combo. Yeah, the stuff cost a little more, but I dont think that I will ever change.

My song of the week (or till I change it): Snow Patrol - Take Back The City

I barrowed a 12" version once before and liked what I heard. I wanted to see what they sounded like and it wasn't too bad at all. I guess it depends on what your needs/wants are as far as the sub goes.
          stuff like :
What amp are you going to use?
What kind of music do you listen to?
do you want bass that BOOMs or Bass that's tight and musical?
          etc etc etc....
          help us help you

I want the boom, I listen to a variety of music such as hiphop, rap, r&b, gospel, and gospel. Alpine has a Type X 10" pumping out 3,000 watts and I'm quite sure you heard of the Pioneer Premier; the 12" that pumps out 2,000 watts, these two are considerations also. Have you all heard anything about these two subs. They are pretty cheap the Pioneer starts at $135 and the Alpine commences at $220. I want two subs from either these two companies, I plan on putting them on my mono channel 1000 watt kenwood amp. Should I get two or stick with one, I f I were to get one I would go for the Pioneer that pumps 2,000 watts. Oh yeah, Im placing them in a bandpass box to. Thanks for the information guys.

Yeah I'd stay away from them. My cousin bought a couple of 12's last year, they do hit HARD. We put them in my Altima and our face was shaking, and that was with the volume on 11. They lasted a good month. They aren't made of anything, unless they changed materials. Stay away from them unless you have some money to spare for a quick boom.

I got a set of those in my car. They sound pretty nice in a good enclosure. I've had them for a year now, no problems yet. I got the 1000W 12" ones for 65 shipped each. Good bang for the buck. If I had the cash though, I would go for kickers, but thats off topic.
