I got an Alpine HU, and I want to get a sub+amp and component amp. I have the components, and I'm prob. gonna put them in tomorrow. My question is, should I run the components off the HU with the sub, or should I wait to get the sub and get the component amp first? Thx in advance...

its up to you, u can hook it up now, it will sound nice but will sound better with the amp. at least u wont have to install the components laterWhat makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I'm going very homemade for now and using 4 woofers from my Mission 743's, matched up to the 9803. I already have them in the back, and they work fine, except for the fact that they need some kind of baffle so they don't blow up. They're 4 ohms though, and they made nice, deep bass when they were in my house w/a half sealed/ported designed box. I'm hoping the baffle will help them make some nice, tight bass, as I know they're too small for anything deep...
For the highs up front I have some Audiobahn AT61s in the mail. My friend gave me a Sherwood 4ch 180w RMS amp that looks like it came out of the early 80s, which I hope means its gonna be quality. I'm gonna get it tested out, and if it works fine I'm gonna use that to power the components. If not, he has a Kenwood 4ch that makes more power, but I'll have to pay a little for that. I might just get that though, I dunno...we'll see I guess.
In time I hope to get legitimate components for the front and get rid of the rears completely, as I'll have a RF amp+Pioneer sub in the trunk. The stuff I have in now is basically a stepping stone from stock to where I should be. I think once I get the amp and front speakers in the SQ and overall volume will go up a lot. We'll see though.Last edited by gloryaccordy; 01-18-2004, 06:24 AM.
