What is up with the volume on this thing!?

Hey guys. I am done installing the alpine 7995 deck ,adn the pioneer gm-x374 4 channel amp. After a few days I gotta say..I am concerned. I used ot have the volume at like 16-17 in my old deck. Now, with the new setup, the volume is at 4, and is plenty. 5 and it gets loud. What the heck is goung on!? It annoys me, cause the difference between 4-5 is not a little one..it is big! I cannot take it louder, or the fricken windows will blow at like 10!

i think that's how it is...an amp increases your signal from the deck to the speakers....there for you don't have to turn it up very loud to get the sound you want it...if you don't like it that loud then you can turn down the gains on the amp...

no shit, if u have the amp connected to higher performing speakers then it will tkae a little more to max them, but if u have em to stock fuzzy speakers they will be maded out quick.

thats how an AMPLIFIED setup goes...

How else am I supposed to use this then? I wanna still hear when I am 40, and the deck requires an amp, cause it has no internal power...at all.

put the gain down all the way

then put the volume up to the highest level u hear it at

then turn the gain up till u hear a level sound

then turn it down half way then adjust the gain to how u like it.

tada u just balanced your system.
