ok, look for the post that i started called "rear fill"
this will answer many of the questions you have..to give you a very basic rundown on it...
at a concert, all of the sound comes form in front of you...so why amp your rear speakers? doesnt sound like such a good idea now, does it?
also, oval speakers (6x9, 4x10, etc.) do not make "pretty sound" sounds stupid, but its true, the non-round shape doesnt make perfectly reproduced sound waves, so it is better to amplify round speakers 4", 5.25", 6.5" rather than an oval speaker.
also, the front stage (your front speakers and how they are directioned and tuned) is much more important for sound quality than the rear speakers...same concept as being at a concert, if the speaker is facing your face, it is going to sound better than a speaker that bounces off the rear glass before bouncing into the windshield and then bouncing all around until it reaches the driver's ear...also, you need to amplify your front speakers before you amplify your rear speakers..unless you drive from the rear seat, which you prolly dont for obvious reasons...
sq isnt about loudness...also, you cant turn the bass all the way up and expect a mid-woofer to produce bass frequencies, so quit cheaping it and go get you some 8s or a 10" sub and get it amplified, and just run your speakers off of your head unit and fade the sound to the front, until you can afford to properly amplify your front speakers and invest in a good component set of speakers...any more ?? just PM me..
Ditch the back speakers and get a good pair of components and a good amp. Get a sub for bass.
anyways, to phatdoughnut...pods are the kick panels that face the component speakers directly at the heads of the front seat passengers...they help you set up the front stage properly, and allow you to extract the utmost SQ from your setup because of the direct-ness of the sound waves to your ear...there is nothing in between the speaker and your ear...it sounds best in that spot...although bass doesnt, it is non-directional...
try this at home with your stereo in your room or w/e...stand off to one side, and turn it up at a good listening level, and then move to directly in front of the speaker...90 degrees out..then it will sound much better..perhaps not that great of a difference in an open room, but instead of the speaker being pointed at your ankle, its pointed at your ear...much better for sound, dont you think?
any more questions...just pm me, or have at it on here to get more opinions if you want them..
omg just got done hooking up my infinitys to that fosgate amp... WHAT A DIFFERENCE! i can't believe ive been this long with out having them amped and running of the deck.. jesus!
anyways that other eclipse set i got, i snaged the woofers out of the set(gave the tweets and crossovers to my lil bro) and i have them in the rear deck, i know you said i shouldnt amp them but im thinking about doing it anyways.. what do you think?

you can if you want, it wont sound that bad if you arent accustomed to it...my only proposal is that you tone their volume down some...let teh fronts blare away, and just get that hint of sound coming from the rear...either hook them up to the amp that powers the fronts and fade it on the amp, or hook it up so that you can fade it on the head unit, either way...the fronts need to be louder to keep that great sound that you heard....
man omg that sound is unbelieveable, i still cant believe it..
OK, now if you have 2 pairs of RCA's going to your RF 800.4 (a pair for the front and a pair for the rears), you can lower the rear RCA outputs so that the rears don't overkill the fronts. I know the rears must sound louder than the fronts do at this point. Turn your music volume up to the max level that you would if you ever did, then lower the rear RCA volume until everything sounds like it's coming all at once. BTW, how's that MTX amp?
My lil brother is using the MTX amp, and man does it pound!!!!!!!!!!
i started to get a lil leary about having big boom coming from my trunk again and getting my car broken into, so he is using it for right now.. plus my car is gona be parked soon cause its gona start snowing soon.. sigh

Don't feel bad. My CB7 and CD5 will be parked throughout the winter too. I'm looking to get an SUV this weekend .
Amplifying components made me hott also! Lmao! My first real setup was in an 92 eagle talon, kicks made by me and jl vr 5 1/4's comps up front and two rf 15" punches in the back with a USAcoustics 100w x 2 to the subs(underpowered) and an USAcoustics 2080 80w x 2 to the comps!
