    Deck First Please.

ok right now im shopping around/comparing prices and seeing which deck has potential for a future setup. i definitely want a deck to read MP3's though. any recommendations or .02cents will be appreciated too. remember im goiing with a deck first. later i'll get the interior speakers (gimme advice here) then amp and sub.(advise me here too)

as for me,i planned on getting A 10 or 12 inch sub. thats right, just ONE. i dont wanna crowd up my trunk thats why. i was at circuit city and noticed this MTX 12 hooked to this kicker amp. i forgot the deck, but the sound was beautiful. i'll try and get the models next time i go. but leave me some feedback guys. first timer here

did you compare that MTX sub to any other subs, like typeR's? if not, i thoroughly recommend it, cuz the MTX subs are renowned for lacking in SQ, not saying they cant have it, but you dont seem to have the know-how to put together a killer system right off of the bat...

as far as HU's...im just gonna give you some brands, and then you can pick a budget fitting HU (deck/cd player, w/e...) from there, one with all the features you are looking for...

    good HU brands..
    alpine (cheaper HUs)
    Clarion
    JVC

    great HU brands..
    alpine (better HUs)
    Eclipse Fujistu-Ten
    Nakamichi
    Pioneer Premier

Neither Pioneer or Alpine are in the same class as Eclipse/Nakamichi regardless of price.

High end also includes brands like Denon.

that sony crap isnt 1200wRMS, its more like 300..trust me, my friend's sub says 1200, but is rally rated at 300wRMS

sony makes OK HU's....someone flames me, im gonna kill them...sony's HUs are the best thing that they make, but for the money that you would spend on one, you can get something much better

i would just look around online, and purchase stuff online, rather than trying to get everything at circuit city or best buy...

LOL!! Hu's may be the best thing Sony makes for car audio but I'd say in general Sony excels in portable audio devices only these days. I don't really trust their quality for their home audio/video stuff.

not a bad way to go, but there are better speakers out there than alpines...same with amps...although TypeR's have great SQ...the subs, that is...lol

I recommend Pioneer as well. The first time I fired up my DEH-3700MP it was like hearing for the first time...leaps and bounds over my Jensen SQ-wise, and it breezes through loading like nothing and hardly ever skips. IMO it's kind of ugly, but it's better than some of the other ones and it performs...plus it has 4-ch outs and a parametric 3-band EQ. I mean, cmon, for $150-180 what more could you ask for?

As far as getting one sub, make sure your impendance matches the amp. If you get a mono amp get a dual 4 sub...if you get a regular amp get a dual 2 sub. I'm thinking of going with one sub too but nothing I have matches, so it's the suxor...

Good luck on your quest though...

alpine has awesome head units IMO. Their amps are also good and not extremely expensive. The Type R subs have AWESOME SQ. I wouldn't buy alpine speakers (other than subs) though.

IMO, u should go wit Alpine. The output of Alpine decks is wonderful (jus my lil .02 cents)

Don't get a new alpine unit... If you get alpine get an 04 unit. The new units are crap. Poor voltage. Poor sound. Lack of high DACs like other competitors. No Burr brown upgrades. All around lazy work from a good company and a downgrade in what used to be great equipment. My suggestion is Clarion or a mid to higher end pioneer. Clarion makes some of the best headunits out there right now. Eclipse has had problems. Nakamachi I have heard great things of, but they aren't too easy to come by. Other units if you want to shell out cash for are Denon and Mcintosh. Depends on if you want a massively functional unit or limited functionality but best overall sound because of it.
