Its not that bad...but i already know where the Cops be stopping at...



I mostly bought it because of the NJ Turnpike...Troopers Suck!

I just got a speeding ticket on Monday. I wish I had my radar detector, but it is in my other car which was seized by the police. ;/

Radars detectors are illegal to use in MN. You will get pulled over if a cop wants to make a big deal out of it and given a ticket for "use of an illegal device". I couldn't believe it when I heard that in court. But as for the best?, Escort 8500x and Valentine 1 may be up there but, I heard that the BEL vector 995 is up there too.

i heard from a private tester (retired cops who sells them) www.radarbusters.com that wireless ones arent as good as the corded ones, and i have the wihstler pro 73 it was aout 150, on his site he gives it 4.5 out of 5 stars and the valentine gets 5 starts so i thinkn that i got a pretty fuckin good one lol and only 150 not 400 botu the cost of a ticket

i got the escort 8500 x50. it's saved me quite a few times, definitely worth the money, i work at best buy so i got it for $150. the thing someone said about lasers being used mostly now is only true in certain areas. i get radared alot, and i've only been lasered twice ever since i got a radar about a year ago. but it takes some eyes too, because cops around here, especially troopers, like to drive coming the other way, and not turn on the radar until they see you, at which point it's too late for the detector. the escort will pick up a trooper comin the other direction from about a mile away, but not when his radar is off.

this screwed me over last week, 84 in a 55 was the result, but the cop was parked on the side, and saw me and turned it on, i hit the brakes but it was too late.

the major advantage of a valentine 1 is that it tells you what direction the cop is hitting you from. the only way i would need this is so i could no if i had to slam on the brakes or run like hell. other than that it's about the same.

and for you stereo people (like me), the escort 8500 has an option to show you live battery voltage while your not being lasered. i don't know about the V1 having this.

Like stated above, if your going to get a radar detector go big or go home. The cheap ones suck. Valentine 1 or Escort 8500 is where its at.

I don't use one since I don't feel like spending the money on those listed above. The cheap ones have so many false triggers its horrible. Your constantly braking and looking around wondering if a cop is around. That's why I don't use a cheap one. I don't go big, but I dont go home either....I find a different route The CB

When I am in surburban type towns, I don't speed since there is really no need. When I am on the interstates, I rock my CB. Truckers will talk about cop locations up to ten miles away. What radar detector can do that? They will even pinpoint exact locations if the cop is sitting running radar. It was definitly worth the 40 bucks for the CB from radio shack. I also installed the antenna on the inside of the rear window pillar so no one knows I have a CB in the car. (The tint blocks it completly)

my instincts r a beautiful thing. that and i dont think cops wanna waste their time pullin me over. ive ran passed troopers at like 90 in a 65 but they nvr pulled out. i think it was b/c it was around 10pm and he was sleep
