finding a short

so after i ran my wires behind the dash i asked my friend to put my headunit back into the dash and about an hour to an hour and half later when everything was done and reconnected my headunit wouldn't turn on...so i'm thinking shit i shorted my headunit so i take it out and try my headunit in my tl...ok it's working fine...then i go into my room and grab another headunit and install it...it doesnt work either. so i put i went inside again and grabbed my stock headunit and installed it...it didn't work either so i left it and came to the conclusion i shorted out the harness for my radio...anyways to test this and how would i go about fixing it?

i found that one fuse was burnt but it only made my antenna motor work again...nothing else

if i run a new power wire from the battery what amp fuse do you recommend i put in for it ?

on my passat i put mine on my windshield wiper fuse, that way your radio wont turn off until you take you key all the way out like normal but basically any fuse with constant running power when key in and no power with key out.

alright how would i tap into the windshield wiper fuse? or is there a better spot i can tap into? i gotta fix it this weekend its driving me crazy with no radio.

my bad for such a late reply but you take the wire and what you do is wrap the power wire around one fork of the fuse and simply plug it back in but if the wire is under the hood you're going to have to make it longer or find a fuse inside the car like maybe the one that controls the dome and door lights
