okay i've got a question on amps. I got some speakers awhile back, like june of 06 and want to desperately amplify them with a 4 ch. amp. They are Kenwood Excelons with 5.25 in front and 6x9s in rear. The rears say they can handle 66watts rms and fronts are like 45rms. with 330peak and 160 peak wattage. So can someone help me when it comes to choosing a good quality amp that will give me the maximum power without blowing these speakers? I spent about 300 on the setup with install so I really dont want to spend anymore than that on an amp hopefully. thanks

Everyone has their personal opinions, I'll not tell you that you have to get what I have but I'll let you know how I like it.Originally posted by Losiracer2okay i've got a question on amps. I'm running an Alpine 240w 4ch amp, the one from about two years ago (just before the series with the silver plate on the bottom half) and I absolutly LOVE it. The rear channels have a separate bass boost, and it's very clean at improving the bass so long as you tune it just to where it won't over do it. It's rms is I believe 40w per channel, and compared to a head unit pushing only 13w rms or so (no they never get near 40-50w for more than a second so even a true 35-55w amp will be a huge improvement). The clarity in the whole range hooked up to some older alpine typeS in the doors and type E in the rear deck is superb and I really couldn't ask for much more. I got the amp new for about $135 on ebay, it'd be a bit less now, or you could get a newer one (do NOT get the one with the silver plate, it's wattage is not as good as it's rated plus it's known to overheat) the one I have and the 2006 models are usually underrated (give MORE wattage than rated) and you'd be quite happy overall. If you can manage to get the new alpine digital 4ch, or even the 2ch and bridge it, (they are a bit expensive) I've heard a car shop owner say he couldn't believe his ears. 4x150w or 2x150 watts (2ch and bridge the front's and rears you'll still get 75w per channel) the efficiency rating is so good on those you'll get more volume than you can imagine.

On just about anything audio, definately. Usually 1/3 off retail is about what I've figured, sometimes more or less but that's pretty true across the board. Just be careful of the buyer's feedback and shipping and you'll be alright. Different items on ebay like say body kit sellers will have lower feedback across the board than usual, but some will be noticable lower than that. check a few and skim a couple pages of feedback if you are unsure. I've lost a little bit of money on ebay, but Ive saved sooo much overall that it's totally worth it.Originally posted by Losiracer2awesome man thanks! ill be on the lookout, so u think ebay's the best place to find good deals on stuff like that rather than circuit city/best buy or any audio shop in town?
