    They don't fit!

Hey all, I've got a 93 ex accord, and i was told that there are 5.25in speakers in the front. so i bought some phenoix golds to put in there, and they don't fit! i dunno what to do, let me know some ideas. they don't fit in around at all.

You have 6.5 in front and probably 6x9's in back but maybe 6.5 in back you have to check before purchase

        couple of problems:

        1. doesn't sound like you checked the depth of the speaker. all 5 and a quarter (5.25) speakers aren't made the same. just because it's 5.25, doesn't mean it'll fit. check the faq at the top of the forum to check the maximum depth always good to check a site like www.crutchfield.com to see what speakers will fit in your car, and which ones won't.

        2. you bought phoenix gold... be glad they don't fit and take them back if you can. (obviously just my personal opinion).

he has a mounting depth problem...build a bracket with some wood...in his signature it says ex so he has the right size speaker the depths just off.

I got 5.25 on the front and the hole to mount it on is a bit small, so u should make it a bit bigger and fit it in , i used a heater gun. and it will stick out a bit too
heres a pic hoped i helped. Or u can go back to store and get the right size. i think 5 "

Q-Forms. By Q-logic priced between 150-200 bux the usually need a little reinforcement and some sounddeading but for premade they got just about everything right.

The front speakers on a CB7 are either one of two sizes, 5.25 or 6.5.

Some models had a plastic housing that was in the door that also served as somewhat of an enclosure. Those pieces take a 5.25.

If you remove that plastic housing, you can straight bolt a 6.5 speaker to the door frame.

The housing has plenty of room for a 5.25, good depth. I have a set of Bazooka 120watt, aluminum coned 5.25s up there inside the enclosure and they sound great.

If you straight bolt a 6.5 to the frame, you have to be careful because if the speaker is too deep, it will interfere with the window mechanism.
