x2 I moved mine when i had it and it never cut off on me againOriginally posted by King JamesWhere is the amp located?....Move it somewhere else see if that helps...If it doesnt chances are its cuz the amp is working to hard to push the sub(s) so there isnt much you can do other than buy a new amp
You could always rig up a computer fan to blow air on your fan if you like where its at now
Maple50175 - you're annoying =P
Brandoncb7 - I don't mean to come across like an ass but I see why you irritate Aaron now.

make sure the load is right
is it a mono sub amp or a stereo amp with a bridge. Either way make sure the ohm load is correct. Then make sure you have a good ground and proper wire sizing and fuse rate. The last thing is try turning the gain down you could be trying to get too much out of it, and you are clipping the sound but not aware. Take it to a car audio shop they should diagnose your problem for free if not, get the h@#! out of there.

Very good info. Another thing is, its a sony amp. Thererfore its probably pushing 200 watts if its not bridged, and probably about 350 if it is bridged. It is easy to try to get too much out of it, thats why it overheats all the time, and gets really hot. Its best just to get a better amp.Originally posted by 1991accludeis it a mono sub amp or a stereo amp with a bridge. Either way make sure the ohm load is correct. Get the amp into some fresh air, or put a fan on it. I have mine screwed into the top of my box in the trunk.
Also you're probably asking your sony xplode amp to work beyond its capabilities and thus overworking it; get something with more power, or get another amp so you have 2.

/\ This is the information that needs is what needs to be taken into account. even though its Xpold it still should run correctly and not hot if everything is wired correctly.Originally posted by 1991accludeis it a mono sub amp or a stereo amp with a bridge. here is the amp at?
i know some people that put it under their seats and stuff and then
ends up burning up
but yeah it needs the O2 (to breathe)
and i always kinda hated sony amps, and speakers seem to mess up ALOT
Go with Vpower from Alpine you won't be sorry
i got a 200 watt and it's kicking 2 12's in my trunk
and doesn't even get warm

its been said your trying to get to much from the little amp. but at the same time all amps can get hot when not wired properly or not geting enough voltage. but yes look into another amp along with geting ur stuff checked also. take it to a shop let them check it out ask if they charge first and go from there. then check there product line and see if u like anything. goodluck with your problem hope u get it sounding like u want soon!
