Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    k20 head on h22 block

Ive heard it being done and ive heard of insane N/A numbers being pulled out of the setup. Though I cant find any concrete facts on how it was done, has anyone done any research into this? I know that the studs line up and almost all the ports line up. But there is still lots of other things that go into it.

    Is it even worth it?

I'd like to see this as well.

Theoretically, it does not seem possible.

I have seen threads on it from a long time ago. But other than that its been theoretical. yea everything lines up as I recall in the thread. But you gotta match up the timing gear and somehow adapt using the Ivtec system. I havent seen "real" numbers only theories. The K series uses a chain vs a belt system.

I stole some pictures from k20a.org showing an h22 head gasket on a k20 head.
It looks feasible, cept for the fact k20 runs on a timing chain.

        Then again

Brauningmotorsports is apparently the company who made this hybrid swap and that h22 block runs on a chain.

Ive seen those pictures too. And the one where the head is sitting on the h22a. Its all talk I havent seen any proof. If that happened it would be all over the internet honestly and prelude forums everyhwere. With a K head that opens a lot more possibilities for tuning and power levels.

Any decent machine shop should be able to machine a k20 timing gear to fit an h22 crank. Heck, you could design one pretty quickly in SolidWorks/AutoCad if you knew the tooth spacing.

would the balance shaft belt run the oiol pump and water pump instead of the balance shafts? that'd be awesome but too bad the belt is way too skinny for those pulleys. probably cause issues of the belt walking back and forth.

would it be worth it though? What gains? Better flow?

well the k head from the factory are like a race ported h head and then they have more potential after the fact but really this is only a awesome idea for drag racer because for DD your missing out on the main k series advancement I-vtec ok but anyway i beleive its on HT but there is a dude a while back k20 head h block and xtrac trans yeah well the post was him asking if anyone figured it out then people were bitching about the way the motors spin in relation to one another because honda reversed then layout in the engine bay. but i really boils down to if you want k series technology then guess what talk to hasport when they finish up with 2point6's car. oh and another reason k20 head better the aftermarket has embraced it much better without all the bullshit the bastard motors got (f and H series). well hope i helped

i thought the K spun in the opposite direction as the H?

Yea but you reverse the head when you mount it on the h22a. The header is facing the front instead of the normal intake manifold.

apparently they pumped more hp out of the k20 head without modification than h series heads. it was probably just better designed and gives me hope that a 86mm motor can make that amount of hp.

A full K swap into a CB would probably be easier, more reliable, and have more potential. K24 block with a K20 S or R head. More displacement AND an easier frank to build.

2point6 is working with Hasport now, so the CB K series mounts should be on the way.

The mounts are the easy part. I want to see the electronics involved in it.
