For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

    F22a6 manifold swap FAQ

    What is it?

The f22a6 manifold is from, well duh the f22a6 engine. Only certain models came with this; 91 SE, 92 & 93 ex. Basically the difference is, is that the runners inside the intake plenum,

Like that, see how that thing has 8 holes, well the other engines have only 4 holes.

These extra ports are an extra feature that came in these certain model accords. Basically when the car hit a certain rpm these 4 extra ports open to induce more air flow into the engine, thus creating a bit of power.

    Is there a benefit?

Possibly and most likely. The 92 93 ex and 91 se cb7’s were rated a bit higher than the lx, and ex versions of the 91.

When I did the swap I did feel a benefit.

    What parts will I need?

You will need gaskets. The intake manifold plenum kit comes with the gasket to the head and the gasket in between the runners, yet you will need to purchase another individual gasket cause there is 2 gaskets needed…also a egr gasket, and possibly some new fuel injector gaskets (#33, #2) since you have to remove those and they are prone to leaking at this age.

    Breakdown

Injectors: #33 & #2--> remember you have 4 injectors so you have to get all of them!
    Manifold: #15 (2), #20, #12

Of course you can buy these usually in a kit. Honda and aftermarket is basically the same, I got the fuel injector seals at Honda and then the rest is aftermarket.

The IAB control box (black box) is needed if you wish to control it with the ecu. Also a line from the ecu will have to be made on pin a17 to the IAB control box, look at the links and you will see what im talking about.

Additionally you will need the manifold from the f22a6 as well and the ecu for 92 93 ex or 91 se. ECU number is PT6 no matter what ANYONE ELSE TELLS U!

You can run the a6 manifold with the original ecu that you have, but remember the dual runners are controlled by the ECU so you wont have any control over the new setup plus you wont get the full performance of the a6 manifold. I believe there is a different power curve but also a higher redline, I think I go up to 6.1k on my auto now instead of the 5.9 as before.

    Is it worth it?

Yes and no. for people like me who is trying to keep a stock complexion and also be smog legal I did it. I wanted a little extra power, plus I found this manifold for very cheap. I mean I gained what, maybe 6 to 10 horses but I really like it, worth the cash in my mind.

Some people though, they probably would be better off by putting their money elsewhere but it’s all up to the tuner =).

How hard is it to install?

Its fairly easy to install, but it just takes time. The hardest part is taking off the old gasket but the rest is quite easy. Just be sure to have some tools, sockets, extensions, and a bit of creativity. I did my swap in about 6 hours with the issue of this one bolt, its just a lot to take off off the top of the car.

    Nice threads to look at:

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

i did this too, and i also do feel a pretty big difference at higer rpms, the valves open around 4k on my car and from then on it pulls hard all the way through. its a greta mod. i got all my parts including throttle body, intake, iab, gaskets, ecu everything for $50. cant beat that i probably gained around 5-9 hp.

i have the a6 intake but, my black box is broken..

edit: my butterflies stay open all the time, it kinda kills my low end but it starts to pull hard around 3.5k..

haha on the black box right, it has those 2 nipples, then it connects to this little module on the box that is held by the screw, where that grey connector fits onto. i just used that and didnt use the box

you shouldnt, i did for some reason but others didnt.

if u get that a6 ecu and hook it up to pin a17 (i think) then run that to the IAB then ur fine.

give me a couple of weeks and i might be able to get the butterfly valves to open at any rpm the user inputs for under $20 without using the a6 ecu.

the IAB is the black box that controls the butterflies.
