Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Auto tranny...power limits?

I have plans for a swap in the near future and some upgrades for it, possibly a turbo. Now, I am going to continue using the auto transmission, no converting for me. How much power can the F22a6 trans take? I want the car, in the 14's if possible, on the stock trans (40k mi.). If that is too much power (~200-220 hp @crank), do any of you have built auto trannies? Im just looking for opinions, and experience from u fellow auto cb7 guys. I just want my trans to be alright for daily use, and not get eaten away by the motor.

any help or info is appreciated
    thanks guys

First, Slushbox for life. Second, you can ultimately extract a lot of power out of the auto F22a6. I currently have an accord ex, auto, with my current mods listed in my sig, I am guesstimating I have around 150-155 wHP and 155-160 TQ, I'm only assuming this because I have not dynoed, but my friend has, and those were roughly his results, and I beat him in the 1/4 @ the track. I believe with some weight reductions and some internal work, and ecu tuning almost anything is possible, i mean for the right amount of money you can get a fiat into the 14s. I'm going to get a TB bore and an IM p&p very soon, gonna add a cam gear on top of that from UR. You could always go the nitrous route for quick HP gains. hope i helped, without going into huge detail.

yea thanks, as long as the slushbox can take the power then i'll be happy. Its a 40k F22a6 trans, but has no torque converter . Hopefully the 200 hp @ the crank wont hurt the trans...anyone know of any performance torque converters besides the Level 10 place. I think thats what its called...

Just curious, why don't you want to go manual?

You'll be putting so much money into this only to still not being as fast as you could if you had a manual. If you're doing 15's with an auto, it's probably possible to do 14's with the manual. It's just the difference in gear ratios that make the manual tranny just so much better for racing

True to some extent, in some cars an auto/manual difference is huge, in others it's only marginal. Truth be told, not many people can drive a manual so well that they are shaving seconds off their 1/4. Get a tranny cooler, and you'll be fine. It is funner to drive a manual, and if your a good driver you will shave a little bit of a time. However, with a great TQ converter you'll be just as fast, if not faster than stick. Just my personal opinion. PeaCe.

p.s. I should be running mid 15's with decent tires and less humid weather.
