    which clutch? :)

deciding which clutch to go with. i got a stock h22 and filled motor mounts, and i dont have lots of cash...

whats about the standard Exedy clutch kit that goes for $125 shipped on ebay? is that oem-level?

or should i go for the $220 shipped ProClutch Stage 3 6pucker
    (looks noname...)

or i coudl always just get the known good CF dual friction clutch for $240 + shipping.

    whats recommended?

Although I own an auto I have heard REALLY good things from ACT.

Advanced clutch technologies I believe. There isn't a real need for a stage 3 clutch mainly because look at your power output. I don't know what you have done to your car BUT IMO if the h22 is stock first off which tranny did you use? and secondly how much power (kinds of mods) do you have or plan on doing in the near future?

only reason i mentioned the 6puck stage 3 was cuz it was cheaper than the CF dual friction.

its a stock motor, intake, at some point exhaust... gonna be small bolt ons for quite a while, till i get some money, then i hope to piece together a turbo kit someyear. but that shouldnt affect what i get now.

my autozone clutch just isnt doing it for me lol... id like something better, but it doesnt have to be crazy, i dont really race or do anything insane. even tho ive heard things about the name Exedy, but $125 shipped for hte whole kit is kinda cheap, makes me wonder if itll just be exedy's version of my autozone/oem clutch.

      opinions?

The act 6 puck clutch is for heavy duty racing only, it has very harsh engagement.

I just dropped an Exedy clutch into my car. The regular OEM replacment jobby.

          So far I'm tickled pink.

Anyway, if the entire package (bearing, clutch, pressure plate) is $125, it's the OEM replacement kit.

If it's $125 for just the clutch then you're probably looking at the sportier one.

The Stage 1 clutch will handle something like 235 hp. When I was shopping for the clutch, folks here recommended either the Exedy or ACT.

..go for the exedy clutch. been using exedy for years now, and gonna drop in another exedy for the H22...nice and easy engagement, but durable enough to handle what you've got. trust me, i had a CM stage 3 once, could have sworn my left calf got bigger than my right

I have heard more negatives than positives about the Clutch Masters clutches.

Only good things about the Exedy and ACT parts.

It appears the Stage 1 clutch will give an almost OEM feel but gives enough holding power.

go act bro. Ive got a act heavy-duty street/strip sprung hub disk for those daily driving trips. Cause with the puck you have some neck snapping engagement that may do more harm than good if you drive it daily.

the $125 exedy is for the whole kit (pp, disc, bearing, tool), so its oem-level. i have a pretty new autozone clutch that was around the same price for the kit... would i be gaining anything by spending the cash on the exedy, or would it be the same as my autozone one?

Check out this guy, this is where I got my kit.

I checked everything I could and decided this was an actual Exedy clutch.

Ask him and he'll throw the alignment tool in there also.

I haven't had any experience with the Autozone branded clutch, but the plug wires I bought from A-Zone were crap, so I'll take a shot here and say the clutch is crap also.

I actually was looking at the same thing and I got my clutch from him and my flywheel from clutchcityonline.com which I would highly recommend. I was in awe at the great service I received from them. My exedy OEM clutch kit was actually around the same price and I am very satisfied with it. My friends thought it was something other than an OEM replacement because of the extremely smooth engagement and good grabbing ability. It surprised me to tell you the truth.
