For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Cam Gear tuning 101?

I kinda need some advice as to what to set my Skunk2 Cam gears at. I've never had adjustable cams before and thought it'd be a good investment as I slowly get better "faster" parts for my H22.

What is a good baseline setting for my H22 to set the cam gears at? The guy who swapped set them at 2 deg. advanced on the ignition side, saying that'll be good for more power. But I just want to get a few more opinions as to what everyone else has to see the pros and cons of going more advanced or retarded?

What's a good setting for street driving (good gas mileage) in other words and another for track driving, like 1/4 mile etc.

Ya I'd set them to stock and get everything where you want it then get it tuned. Pay for a few extra runs and let them play with the cam timing.

can you dyno tune Auto H22's though? thats what I was worried about...them not being able to do that properly.

a dyno is required to tune cam gears.
get the air fuels and timing set with the gears at zero.
advance or retard the exhaust cam untill a power gain is noticed. you will have to adjust air fuel ratio while doing this.
once you get to the point where going further drops power, stop.
move to the intake cam. the tricky part is for every degree you move the cam, you will have to adjust the ignition timing accordingly, so it stays at 16deg base timing.
adjust the same way as exhaust, move it till it stops gaining power, while keeping the a/f's in check.

            hope that helps

wow it seems like its a pretty involved process....I better let the professionals do it then. My swap guy did time the car after he set the intake cams.... to 16 deg. He said it needed to be between 14 and 18 so he settled in the middle. But I was planning on going to see this guy Jon or John at Locash Racing here locally, I was gonna give him my P13 to get the EGR and hopefully that pesky Code 36 removed and also the speed limiter taken off. Hopefully he can do it. But Hasport and Full Race are on the same street as he is so between those 3 shops, hopefully someone can tune my Auto lol.

well not if you only want to adjust that one cam it isn't lol. I just wouldn't show off your one cam gear when you're supposed to have two lol.

It's not a bad idea to degree the cams, but Honda's stock cams are usually dead nuts on, so you might not see any gain from this, although it certainly wouldn't hurt.
