Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Vtech conversion

So I'm lookin at a motor this guy's sellin and it's an F22A bottom end that comes with an F23 Vtec head. What would it take to convert my current F22 setup into a Vtec? He's only wantin 500 bucks for everything and it comes with 2 turbo manifolds, an H23 intake manifold, two turbos (one needs rebuilt-Garrett M3),Greddy BOV, polished piping, and all the fittings.

It would take an H22 swap. The F23 would be a waste of time unless you use the F23 block for some type of a hybrid.

Many have done hybrid builds with the F23 block, for example G23 and G23 VTEC, and then boosted them.

Well here's what I'm thinking about doing. I just made a deal an an F22A block that comes with F23 head, 2 turbos (one a Garett M3 that needs rebuilt.),a couple different turbo manis, intercooler, all the intercooler piping I'll need (So he claims. It all looks to be there.), H23 Intake mani, and a crap ton of other parts.(IE:Stock struts, mesh grille, stock EX exhaust mani and flex, and a bunch of other cb stuff) all for 500$. The motor and head he claims have about 30,000 miles on them. I want to figure out if I can use this F23 head with this turbo setup or if I would be better using an F22 head. I've been kicking this idea around for some time now and just want to do it. I know I'll need a P06 ECM. The F22 block already has the oil return bog welded in and the oil sending unit is already split as well.

I just don't know what all it would take to convert it to Vtec. I know on Civics to go from non Vtec to Vtec there are only like 3 wires you have to run. Is this the same with Accords?

Yea, you just run a couple of wires to the ECU and get a ECU that can control VTEC.
FYI, the P06 is not a VTEC ecu but it can be converted and work just like a P28(which is a VTEC ecu).

You would have less to worry about with an F22A, there are no advantages in using the F23 head.

Make sure the turbo manifold you are getting will work with your engine and with the turbo you are planning on using. Also make sure the turbo is proper size for your engine.
And you will also need to tune the ecu before you can drive the car with a turbo installed on it.

you should probably learn that its VTEC not VTECH before attempting a swap like this. it would be easier and les complicated to just swap in an entire f23 then do a head swap. less hassle but not great enough gains to warrant the swap anyways. save your money and get an obdI engine like an h23 or an f22b dohc.

Shut up. I'm so used to lookin at my freakin house phone that it's now stuck in my memory bank lol. So on with it. The F23 vtec wouldn't have more power over the F22?

A complete F23 engine will have slightly more power, but it's a waste of time because you can just throw a few things on your F22 or get an H22 and have way more power.

If you are using just the F23 head, it will probably not be as reliable as the whole engine and it is really not an upgrade.

In any case if you are planning on putting a turbo on there, the F22A head will be just fine
