Downpipe issues

Ok guys I bought a DC Header from a local who had it on his 91 Accord. The downpipe looked a little different to me but the top part was spot on and the flanges are all correct. So I pulled a rusty A4/A6 downpipe out of my scrap pile and matched it up. This is the result:

A4/A6 on top, DC Sports on the bottom:



Do I have a Prelude unit here? I tried searching the web and nothing, DC Sports website is down and I found nothing else that matched. I don't mind making an adapter pipe, and I already have to make an O2 extension harness, I have an LX.

So, anyone know what I have here?

Yea I'm gonna make a custom "test" pipe, to replace the cat and connect to this. It's just kinda weird seeing as the flanges match up but nothing else does.

Is this with f22 or h22?

If it is h22 does the upper flange of the f22a4 match the dc one?

Oh yeah F22.

The flex pipe on the A4 DP is trashed, hence why it was on my scrap pile.

A little off topic but still within the relm here. Will the DC Sports top part fit the A6/A4 lower. From what I am looking at they look very similar. If so I'll just use my DC upper b/c my lower one is pretty bet up from previous owner.

I don't know what DC dowpipe you have, but when you install it, make sure you brace the downpipe to the back of block support brace. Make a custom bracket if you have to, it helps putting less stress on the header flange welds. 3 of 4 primary flange welds cracked on me because my Kamikaze header came without this back block support brace.

I think thats the reason why you had so many problems with that header was due that it had so much stress being applied to it. That and a flex pipe wil help. Can anyone answer my question.

Thats scary man didn't know it was that important, I plan on making a new bracket for it. Thanks!

any one know the bolt dimensions for that header brace to the back of the block? i need to get some and dont know what size i am looking for.

Sorry man didn't see your question! In my comparision, the DC header extends farther down than the stock header. So it could work, but the downpipe will be hanging farther down than it should be.

I don't think its a 94-97 Accord DP, the flange to the cat is totally different. Its the same flange for our cats, just the DP is shorter.

h22 top

h22 dc header does not fit the jdm or usdm jdm downpipe, I know this for a fact.

But I do not know about the f22a4/6 dp

EDIT: Does anyone know if the diameter of the downpipe is the same between the h22 and f22a4/6? Just curious.

Well I was right on the Prelude part. I found a number on it while installing it today, and its for a 97-01 Prelude SH. I added a bracket to bolt to the block and made a custom test pipe.
