I didn't know what forum to put this is, but anyways, I know absolutely nothing about tires, and I'm gonna need some soon. This is my situation, I am having my f22b engine installed shortly, and soon after, a turbo kit. My car is sitting on the stock alloys, and I need some tires that are gonna be able to handle the power, but aren't too expensive. So, what tires have you guys used and how good are they?

this is the right place to post..
but anyway I did some research back in the spring on what tires to get. I wanted the best tires for rain and dry conditions with no thought of using them in the winter. I settled on Brigestone RE750. I'm very glad I did.
They ride very nice and grip about the same in the wet as it does the dry.
I have them on 16" rota circuit 8's. They grip very well for a set of 205 width tires.
now if you want the best grip in the dry go for some falken azenis. they are even pretty cheap **but be very aware that they aren't good for rainy weather**
for cheap all season tires (that still have some grip) try out the falken Ziex.

i recommend nitto 555's, i have them and they ae great in any kind of weather, havent tested in snow cause never see any her ein georgia really. but they are excellent in dry weather.94 accord lx

Ok, with 555's I'd have to say they're awesome. My only complaint was a few years back when it rained its hardest in the history of Cali, thee worst tires ever to have in wet conditions aside from slicks. No joke, I hydroplaned 7 times only driving a 10 mile distance from work to home. Factor in the snow for you mid-westerners, and it's not that great. Just my 2 cents.O'skool fo sho! You might hate, but I been doin' this long before you know.

Keep in mind, the smaller rims you have the cheaper the tires will be. We have 15" stock rims so if you keep them at 15 or go to 16, you will have cheaper options. 17" options and up get more expensive, you'll see.
Another good bang for the buck to consider that's good in dry/wet conditions is Yokohama AVS ES 100 tires ($97-100/each for 17").
I was comtemplating the Bridgestone Potenza RE750s as well, they are great wet/dry but like $143 for 17".
If money isn't an issue, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 look very good as well for wet/dry ($147/ea for 17")
For All-season tires (you should put these on your stock 15" rims...cheaper and you won't damage your nice rims) I am using a 205/55 R15 tire size as base pricing:
(1- best buy IMO) Continental ContiExtreme Contact $71/ea .. good wet/dry/snow
(2nd best) Bridgestone Potenza G009 $79/each ...good wet/dry/snow
(3rd best) BFgoodrich Traction T/A V $79/each...okay wet/dry/snow
(4th best) Goodyear Eagle GT-HR $77/each ... okay wet/dry/snow

overall good brands to stick to IMO are:
Performance:
Bridgestone
BFGoodrich
Yokohama
Toyo
Falken
Nitto
All-season (including snow):
Bridgestone
BFGoodrich
Yokohama
Continental
Michelin
I have Sumitomo Srixon4s on our 90 Accord EX and they suck in city driving on wet pavement/rain and are okay in snow. I've owned Michelin and Yokohama all-seasons and have been pleased with all-condition traction and mileage. We had Pirelli P7000 on our 88 Integra, but when we got that car the tires were mounted on spring/summer rims so they are good in wet/dry, but never tested them in snow. We have all-season BFGoodrich tires on our 2001 Odyssey have had it in dry/wet only...it won't see snow until our 87 Sable wagon dies. They use Continentals on Audi/Volkswagen. And I have only heard good things from Falken & Toyo but haven't personally witnessed them yet. I've seen people run on Falkens in autocrossing (and many of them had the Azenis) and they did well. The best drivers there actually had them on their cars.Last edited by HondaFan81; 12-06-2004, 05:18 PM.
