JDM H22a Accord Torneo 4-bangers come with duals...

Don't listen to what other people say, if you like to have a dual exhausts on your car, then go for it! The V-6 Accord and Higher end acura's aren't the only ones that come with dual exhaust setups, There are JDM Accord four bangers with dual exhausts from factory! The EDM Accord Type-R and JDM Accord Euro-R, Torneo Euro-R's are equipped with a 220ps H22A.

Now putting a dual exhaust on a F22A equipped accord may seem questionable on gains since they don't need to breathe as hard as a V6 or H22 engines, but on high end it may help out a little but low end u may suffer. Also the design of how you go about creating the Y-pipe. I've seen a ghetto setup on a civic where a new section of pipe was welded onto the existing axle pipe and I can only imagine that hurt performance. More air was probably coming out the main exhaust while the addon was spewing probably less air.....not to mention it sounded like crap. (cheap import pepboy mufflers)

Next time you get a chance, take a look under a Accord V-6 or a Acura CL,TL. Look how the main pipe joins into a Y-pipe and almost evenly splits the two mufflers into two sections. You want to keep the airflow as smooth as possible. This is why a aftermarket straight thru design catback exhaust such as a Apexi N1, with less bends is efficient because the air coming out of the exhaust doesn't have to go through tons of winding mazes of pipe to exit the muffler. There is even a catback by HKS if i remember right, where it converts a V6 Accord or TL into a single exhaust which supposed to be even more efficient.

That said, I think duals look nice on bodykits that have cutouts for them for example blackwidow kits. I hate it when people do a BW rear and only have one exhaust peeking out.....in my opinion it looks funny.

I actually wanted to do this on my accord to imitate what the rear end of a Torneo but I don't want to do put a bodykit on my car. I was thinking about custom fitting a 94-97 accord rear lip to make room for the extra exhaust tip. The 94-97 rear lips are shaped like /-----\ rather than a 90-93 which is shaped like [===|=|]

I need to take pictures of the CB i see parked at my friends apartment complex in sacramento. I never met him and I dunno if he visits this board at all but he modified his stock rear lip to accomodate dual exhausts. On the drivers side portion of the lip, he cut a section to match the exit hole on the right side.

Just remember Honda did it's homework when it equipped the JDM H-series accords with Dual exhausts...that doesn't mean u can't create a dual exhaust that will benefit a F-series motor, but lots of time and testing will have to be done to make one be good for show + gains.
I need a custom turbo manifold built....

just know that you cant create a true dual exhaust system from an inline 4. you can create an exhaust system that splits and that then goes onto two mufflers and has the appearance of a dual exhaust. i had a dual looking exhaust on my merkur xr4ti, it was a borla system and it sounded pretty good. it just went back and it then y-ed into two pipes in the back.
good luck with whatever you do decide on doing though, and the only thing that will limit you is money.

i've got dual rice cans on my accord. it looks good and sounds great as well.

the so called "power gains" that you get from exhaust would be a few extra hp, and you probly wouldn't feel the difference. just put it on if you want, 2.5in from the catback and y pipe it.

im runnin dual on my cb7. I didnt want to lose any hp or torque, so i went with a single in dual out muffler box, and ran the piping from that to 2 magnaflow tips. Overall im pleased with the look and the tone. for a sound clip, check on my vid... http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=14555

Well Ive always wanted a dual exhaust on my accord, but the accord only has one header and in the long run adding a 2 way spliter would only hinder high rpm performance. So I would put a 2 1/2in pipe, go bigger if you want, but you will loose tons of back pressure. If your turboing use 3in straight pipe and you will have a sound that few mussle cars can compete with. Still if none of these ideas dont appeal to you go dual exhaust. In the end its really just exhaust you get the same horsepower as puting on some mugan decals. lol joking

just get the rice cans. put them on tastefully though.

or do it the HMT way, and put on a couple magnaflow mufflers

Or you can get two OBX fake Greddy EVO mufflers. There are a lot of fake mufflers on Ebay; I think I might get the Tsudo SP2. If you get custom 2.5" piping it's probably just as good as the uber-JDM brands that charge 10x what their exhausts are worth...

i did dual exhaust and it slows me down alot in the begning but on top end it opens up. so if u planning on drag racing is no good unless u boosted

If you do dual exhaust and don't want to lose performance, go with a smaller diameter pipe... and be sure the Y pipe is done well, as others have said. 2.5" is too big for a single exhaust for an F22A, so dual 2.5" would definitely cause some breathing problems! If you get proper piping, I would go with 2" to keep velocity up. 2.25" max.

If you don't care about performance and only want sound and looks, then you can do anything you want! I don't like the big cans myself, so I would get 2 dual tips (like the dual tip I have now).
