Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Oening up the IM

    Hey fellow tuner's

I want to know any gains of opening the IM ports. Meaning ridding 8 ports and opening them up to 4 port IM sort of like a poor man Euro -r intake mode without cutting deep into the runners. I know top end will be improved
but would smog be affected as well?

depends on what type of smog...two speed idle or dyno smog?

it may affect a dyno smog because they load the motor up pretty well and if it bogs the shit out of it, then it will affect emissions.

it'll kill lowend a little bit. gutting the iab's out is purely for top end.

Well what I had in mind was to keep the IAB plate stock for when I go smog my car the remove the iab plate and mount plenum to runner's.

I feel that with the unmodded IAB plate that should be okay smog

            Wed3k chime in anytime

more compression I'm guessing. If I'm right just buy a thinner headgasket, maybe others will chime in, lowend won't suffer that much from what I read

just to the intake? id probably keep it stock, a stock h23 will work well and even extend your rpms to 6k

i got a stock h23im with double stacked iab's and it port-matched to my 68mm throttle body and mine has phenominal bottom end and it doesnt choke out past 6k. i used to shift at 7200rpm before the rebuild without any sign of intake restriction.
