From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    H22a Distributor issue

So my car isnt running and someone said it is my dizzy. When I had my swap done, they changed it over to an internal coil. What Im wondering is what Dizzy should I be buying that is internal coil and will work with a obd1 h22a?

The JDM H22a is internal coil while US H22's are external I beleive. Those dizzy's can be complicated sometimes to convert to whatever you want them to. Your best bet is to either get an external coil H22a or H23a1 dizzy and with a little converting, it will work great and probably have better spark.

And that brings on my next question, if I was to switch it over to external, what would have to be done?

Someone told me they think my ignition control mod was bad in my dizzy.....if so, can I buy just that part? And if so, being it is a JDM h22, what part do I order? SOrry I am so clueless....trying to learn

I think the 90-91s are internal coil, I heard something about a 99-01 Civic Si dizzy working as well. I'd take yours in and match them up if you can take apart the cap/rotor and see if it all matches.

im pretty sure that the dizzy is the same as the f22a4. When i got my h22a the coil was out and i just used the one out of my f22a4. also, when i buy a new cap and rotor, i just ask for one for a 1990 accord lx. it fits perfectly.

with my experience with honda dizzy's i know that just about any dizzy will work with any motor as long as it is the same obd design and if your motor is v-tec the dizzy has to match and vice versa.

So as long as I get an OBD1 Vtec Dizzy I should be good?

OK so I just went and looked at the distributor on my car now and it is a td-80u. Everything I search is showing that is a distributor for a NON Vtec motor. So did the guy that do my swap put in the wrong distributor? I know the vtec wasn't kicking at all.

I think TD80U is from an obd2 civic. I also have a obd1 JDM H22A and the distributor stump says TD60U.
