Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

I'm having the same issue with my gsx, so i'm fabricating a remedy. But it does involve cutting.

For my set-up I use a Fluidyne half rad and a high perfomance spal fan. I had temp problems and after I switched to this set-up I've had no other problems.

start with a lower temp thermostat, since your engine is the source of the heat, so reducing engine temps will reduce hood temps

        switch fans
my girls car (auto) wrapped header, 3 bar full aluminum, water wetter, and koyo FANS,
seemed to get very hot under the hood
after i went back to stock fans, temps went down 20degs

also, remember fire wall is flat, so the only way air is getting out of the engine bay is through the bottom, air circulation is your friend

Raising the back of my hood dropped intake temps about 15 degrees, which is huge when it's 120 in Vegas. I've had it like that for about a year, and it still looks tacky to me...I would recommend investing in a proper vented hood.

            Please Read

I thank those of you who are tying to help, but posting in a thread where you haven't even read the initial post is not beneficial.

The problem is not that my engine is too hot, even with a lower temp thermostat I expect to reach the same engine temps, I would sit lower while just driving around, but doing a 16 mile mountain road the thermostat will not keep my engine any cooler than the one I have now.

I am running a stock fan, and again, engine coolant temps are not the problem, those are fine.

Thanks to mozz for commenting on his experience with the half rad, as this has been something I have been considering. If I could drop my intake temps to the level they are at with the hood popped I would be very happy, and would greatly improve performance.

You can always put the civic radiator with its stock fan and get a larger fan and mount it next to it on the empty space to get better cooling.

Or what I'm trying to do is something like my friends EVO were right behind the grille theres a vent for the intake http://www.robearracing.com/pd-blitz...vo-x-08-up.cfm and it looks like it might fit behind the accord headlights with slight MOD the one in the link is the whole kit CF so its like 1200 but stock lancers have it too for like 30-60 $ just for the vent. and im going to try and put them behind the headlights or the grille to blow directly to the intake tranny area and the other to the header and heads area. Might require some modding/cutting of the hood. just an idea I had. might attatch them to be part of the hood to make it seamless.

That idea sounds like its either gonna be a complete hackjob or a clean and subtle mod that could be really nice. Good luck to ya on that and dont forget to post piks and let us know how it went.

I would seriously think about getting a Spal fan...they are expensive, but they do wonders
