Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    How does a D16y8 compare to a F22a6??

Ive always wondered this and now want to see what you all have to say about it. D16y8's are rated at at 127hp(not sure if whp though) and F22a6 140hp. Other than the stroke size 1.6 and 2.2 whats the big diffrence?? Single cam v but some say vtec doesnt really crossover as hard in single cams. Which one of the two shows bigger improvements to bolt ons?? I also looked up the MPG's of both and the .6 diffrence between the strokes doesnt really seem to have much effect on them
    D16y8: 24 city, 31 freeway, 27 combined
    F22a6: 19 city, 26 freeway, 22 combined

All comments and concerns are greatly appreciated

The stroke is not the displacement. The displacement is. The F22A is a larger engine that produces more torque to compensate for the larger weight of the Accord that it lugs around.

Also, however hard VTEC crosses over is not directly proportionate to the power of an engine.

Find a torque curve graph for each engine and you will have your answer.

I knew that about vtec but i just threw it in there as part of the have and have nots between the 2 engines. So in a comparisson which of the two would you say has the better torque/hp to weight they have to pull around ratio??

Have a d17 in my em2, the thing pulls cause its light but doesn't seem as aggresive as the F which can have better acceleration due too a better flowing head, but if you are going for exact and quick response go for a d16 head and a d15 block for higher compression.

I see, well that makes sense. Im debating between getting another 5 speed ex CB7 and semi building it or a 5 speed ek coupe. Just cant decide which one to go with. CB's have potential as we all know but civics are lighter... Also, i dont want to swap them thats why whichever one i decide on will have to be a EX

^^ look for the tq chart instead..

wiki has the weight and all. Its not that much of a difference.

Saying d15 means nothing they are many variations from 8v-16v (60-130hp). Even if you ment d15b you'd still be wrong because the USDM d15b is not the same as the JDM version.

The only worth while compression bump for the D OEM wise is to use ZC pistons (P29) which is commonly used in the d world because it's cheap and fun, i wont go to far into it but they're lots of information on the subject.

As far as the Y8 goes the only worth while block to use (If yours breaks or you want to build) is a z6 or a6 because they oil better than the y8 and are very common. As far as the z6 vs y8 topend wise goes is the combustion chamber sizes are different and other slight differences (a common upgrade among D's is to use the Y8 IM).

I used to be die-hard D series i've mildly built a few take into consideration that the Y8/ek is OBD2.
