Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    A small nitrous question

I dont think i've read anywhere how much to either retard or advance the SOHC adjustable Gear for nitrous.

I think its understood that every 60-75 jet of N2O the distributor timing should pull back about -1*. But I do not think any one has mention anything about the cam gear. If it does not matter then sorry for pondering this so much I have done a little googling but not a lot to show for

I know I've read two things that make me wonder a few things.
    1. is cylinder pressure, Im sure its high but how much higher than the pressure of boost?
2.I know it gets hot but how much hotter than boost? Is it like running high boost with out a intercooler ? (can meth fix this ((no druggie)))

I know our F22A's dont have a problem breathing air and that the nitrous makes it alot easier to do so, But there is a problem with the exhaust on the f22a its not very good. This makes me wonder whats going on when people are runing +100 jets on their F22A's.

In my experience the cam gear doesn't make enough of a difference to care.

Cylinder pressure will actually be lower while spraying than running boost for an equal amount of power. Less mass flow, less volume, lower initial pressure from freezing the charge and not initially being compressed like a turbo would, lower overall cylinder pressure. With boost you have a lot of unusable gas from air mixture just passing through.

Heat should also be lower while spraying for equal amounts of power gain with a proper tune. Spraying freezes intake temp, boosting raises it. Also as mentioned before the pressure is lower while spraying and therefore there is even less heat gain from the lower pressure while compressing. The heat gained from the combustion is the same for spray and boost with equal power and equal tune quality so the temp difference is made the original intake temp.

Overall a proper nitrous setup is better on an engine as long as your not cracking intake valves.

Nitrous is around 50% denser than air. Commonly you want to retard 2 degrees for every 25hp jet after 50-75hp jets & use cooler plugs. Nitrous is just as safe if not safer than other power adders, but on a 20yr old F22 anything over a 35-40% increase in power isn't going to last forever especially if it's a shity install with a power hungry hippo behind it.

Also in higher HP build NA or FI running looser piston clearances helps in the higher stages of the power band. If you ever noticed on some of your nitrous setup's once it's sprayed it doesn't smoke as much as before the run due to nitrous sealing/expanding the rings. IMO and others on most of your old or even new non forged 4cyl/6cyl/8cyl etc etc if you increase the power over 40% you need other suppoting mods to back up the increase. My build for example even though i might make 140-150whp NA i plan on spraying a 75shot and i have upgraded a few things internally just to be on the safe side.

There is ton's of info out there if you're interested in it.
