Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Cam gear problems

OK guys, this might be a stupid question but i am not sure who else to ask, so here it goes. AS some of you may know i am putting in the delta 272 regrind in my car. I also bought a Megan Racing 5 point adjustable cam gear. I finally had a chance to get the damn thing done, but when we tried putting the new timing belt on it would not fit. We have the right belt, i double checked. We moved the tensioner, didn;t help. We tried putting it on every single way. We then decided to put the stock cam gear up to the new one only to find out that the adjustable cam gear is bigger, not by much, but bigger, and if i had the stock one on the timing belt would be a hell of a lot easier to put on. I looked on megan's website and checked the product ID number to see if ti was the right came and it was........what do u guys think...are there special belts i need, or suthing?

count the teeth on the cam gear and the teeth on the stock cam gear.. if there the same then it will work.. ur just gonna have to work harder to get the belt on.. lol.. now do u have the right belt is the question?? if u do u should have some SLACK that u can use towards getting it over the cam gear...

This may be a little off the topic of your question, but did you get a special 272 regrind done? Because normally it is specifically made for naturally aspirated engines only. Unless you had them design some sort of special turbo cam you will almost surely lose power... I'm just curious because I'm looking for a cam designed for a turbo engine right now.

I can definitely concur with this statement. I spoke to delta on the phone when I was thinking of boosting the cb7 and they said they would build me custom turbo regrind. The 272 was for n/a specifically. Just FYI.

yeah i called them, and said, it would neccessarily hurt the power, just depends on my tunning, and turbo set-up, but it should be ok though....anyways i got it all put back together, nowi need new powersterring fluid, coolant, and an oil change, and i will be back in business!
