what can i gte to quite exhaust? Also issue with COPS

im thinking about putting the cat and resonator back on to quite the car down. ive been thinking about it lately and also i have a reason to, DAMN COPS!!!
last night coming home from my second job 2:30am tired as shit
im in College park by maryland University.
folks out drinking speeding and everything but i get stoped.
lady followed me for like 5 minutes. then pulls me over, im like what the shit!
comes to the car and asks for the usual, i give it to her, she never said why she stoped me, so i asked....Why did u pull me over. she sayd ah.....
ur muffler is illegal, i said, i nver heard that before. ive been stop 3 times with the same exhaust set up on my car and cops never said anything and ive also went thru emission with the same muffler.
she gives me a damn repair order to get it fix, im like u mother fucker
mean while people are flying pass and all ur hear are bumble bee cars.
i have folks i can take it of and get them to sign it but im like ive been thinking about lowering teh sound of it anyway, maybe that was a sign

i'm guessing its a custom exhaust?? a high flow cat works too, but the resonator placed right after the cat would do the job.

theres a speed shop in my area that carries universal resonators for 40-up. im gona hit them up for one

i just brought a MagnaFlow resonator 19in long and 2in thick. cost 50bux, just waiting for it to come in from Cali. hopefully this does the trick, i kno alot about magnaflow and they make good products.

hey theo, i had the exact same problem too. I went to a local muffler shop and they welded me the house special resonator and muffler. It was a cheap fix. But my exhaust is a lot quieter (cut down noise by 1/2) just by adding a resonator and a 2 chambered/baffled muffler. It's not straight thru so you lose a smidge of HP but not too bad. By the way, my muffler sounds like crap - it has the high pitch fart can sound. It's deep when accelerating slow or cruising, but when you get on it, it sounds like a fart can beyond belief. I also painted my muffler black for stock factor from VA popo. I might get me a Magnaflow 60 series muffler later. we'll see. sorry for my unorganized post.

theo.. like i mentioned before.. sister had the same problem..
she had 2.5" no cat no res to a straight through muffler.. shit was hella loud..
we went the "import muffler shop" lol.. all imports go there.. and got a turbo pack installed were the cat was suppost to go since it gave a nice straight room to install it
a turbo pack is basiclly a secondary muffler.. looks like a nice round muffler but with smaller inlet/outlet to match ur piping diamter
it quieter hers down a good bit.. and she didnt change her muffler.. now its low and deep even under wot u hear the short ram more than the exhaust
badass.. so see if ur muffler shop has em.. we got charged 45 which isnt bad

I'm suprised I haven't gotten harassed at all. I have a straight exhaust with no cat and a straight through muffler. Last time I was out at the races even the domestic people were like damn that's the loudest car I've ever heard!

Yo, in most states, there are different guidelines for modifying exhaust equipment. I know for a fact in NY state, you can not modify the exhaust unless there is a problem w/your orginal one. And the Decibel limit on any exhaust is 85. it pisses me off, mainly cause Harley's make more noise than anything on the road, and do u see them getting pulled over?

u say the turbo pack....i was thinking it was something for a turbo set up.....lol but im a look into it

as for the resonator sizes, yes they have smaller and bigger sizes

Up until today I had a glasspack as my muffler, loud as anything, ever. I figure summer is rolling around soon and police will have thier windows down a lot more, so I got a flowmaster 60 series, I'm pretty happy with the tone, not too loud, but it makes a very, very cool growl, I'd recommend it if you're trying to get away from the fart.

mines at the moments not even a fart can sound.
it more like a roar a loud as roar/rumblen.
but my magnaflow resonator will get here next monday and im gona get it put on next friday.
