From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    What engine is this???

ok, need some help here. I know some about civics/crxs, but I know people on here know a lot more. I am getting a free civic engine, well, I've been told its a civic engine. But I have no idea what the hell it is. It's a SOHC 1.8l dont know if its vtec or not, and it has a quaife lsd. I looked for the engine label, all I could find was ef1 and some more numbers. Anyone care to help me out?

your description is pretty vague but i'll try and help you out. it really depends on the year of the motor. the displacements change. if it's a 1.8L most likely it's an integra engine but there is no such thing as a SOHC 1.8. if it's SOHC its definately a civic engine. civics only came with 1.5 or 1.6L displacements. the vtec versions are 1.6L from 92-95 (some are DOHC on the del sol SI *1st gen B16*). 96-up EX motors have vtec but are SOHC until the SI. there was never a vtec motor for 88-91 USDM. JDM is a different story. EF is the chassis code for 88-91 civics.

try and find that engine stamp. it's near the header on its left side. it's a little bigger than a quarter and square shaped. it will help!

I know where the stamps are, but this didnt have a readable one. Im only saying what i saw from it, the tag on it said 1800cc, it was definitely sohc, and it said it had a quaife transmission. The tag was labeled, "High performance civic engine". No idea if its jdm or not. Im trying to figure out if its obd1 or not, or what the hell im putting it in. But what usdm car comes with a quiafe?

No USDM car came with a Quiafe (<- spelling? ) stock. Also, no Civic motor is a 1.8 from the factory, USDM or JDM. The motor youre talking about must be a lightly stroked 1.6 with a LSD thrown on it.

Hmm.. getting an engine for free + not having any readable markings means its stolen. Just some food for thought, using or slinging stolen goods only makes theives work harder, and steal more crap.

Haha, that's pretty neat! Please tell us more info on it if you find out. At first I was thinking F18a from some of the UK CB's (I believe) but it's a Civic motor that you have!

Only recently are you actually wrong. New civics come with an engine that's coded R18A1.

Good to know. But in context to 92ex's post though, "civics/crxs" means earlier models where the newer Civics and their engine codes dont apply... only the B and D series.

Guess I should google the new motor though, my aunt is thinking about getting a new Civic for my cousin.

Was the earliest Integra (gen 1) SOHC or DOHC?
