Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    stock exhaust shot, need help w/ choosing new one

    my exhaust currently has 2 huge rust hole in it, so it (of course) sound raspy as trash, a little too loud when i accel (hard, but not past 3.5k or anything), my passengers have said they can't hear the music in my car from the back seat when we're on teh highway over the drone of the exhaust, and my gas mileage has gone from 23-24mpg, to 20mpg over the last 4-6 weeks as the wholes get bigger.

    i'm going to bring my car to a local recommended muffler shop and get mandrel bent piping soon. but i was planning on getting 2.5 piping.....which means i need a new muffler for them to install at the same time, before i can get the work done.

    i don't have, nor will i ever get the $300-400 for a WS muffler, so i'm trying to figure out what muffler i can get that will be deep/no raspiness/about $100 cost. I've seen some megan ones and saw some ppl on here say they were nice for their price.


    have any ideas what i can get?

    Basically any non-Evo OBX muffler should be good. Meineke quoted me for about $180 to replace my exhaust with mandrel bent 2.25" piping + whatever muffler I bring in. It might be cheaper at a mom-and-pop type shop...

        i hate the angled look.....makes me think they just cramed a muffler that didn't fit in there anyways lol.


        and speaking of things i don't like, i don't like crome....so can i just paint teh tip with black BBQ temp rated paint? regular paint would peel from the high temp right? i got some BBQ paint left over from my blackhoused headlights

          lol. in that case, look in JCWiteny. they might hav somethin u like. i hat e chrome also. 2 heavy. im in2 performance 1st then looks. exhaust and suspension b4 rims and taillights

              Most mufflers are polished stainless steel, not chrome.

                  Apexi N1.....all of the N1's look the same, but they are listed for different cars. is there a difference in them?

                    Look for sound clips to see what you like. Make sure you like how the muffler looks: ie canister size, angle, etc. I'd get stainless... but thats just me.

                      i grabbed an OBX twin loop. gonna take some sound bits before and after install.

                      but that will be in a new thread, so this thread is now dead....feel free to lock this one El, or whatever mod gets here first

                          uhhh.. those first 6 links don't work, the second to last is the one that actually leaned me twards the twin loop, and that last link has nothing to do this.
                          and if we DELETED all our old threads, then this site wouldn't have any archived info. i suggested locking so that ppl won't push more important info down the page to comment on something that is over with. which i'm actualy doing right now by replying to your comment crap

                            get a magnaflow muffler from kteller.com and paint it black i got the oval one it looks simple

                              I would fix them, but you get the idea. Plenty people ask about this on a daily basis. I am not sure why this kind of thread needs to come about everyday. Especially when there are a few active ones just below it.
