    f22a1 project

Ok guys whast new, Im writing this thread up after my motor met its demise. I went ahead and have another f22a1 here i was going to rebuild but after screwing the last one up this has become a priority. So Im posting this up to get some feedback from people have rebuilt these motors and opinions/advice to me. I am going to keep the f22a1 (NON-VTEC RULES!) as well as i want to build it to withstand boost. I want to try to put this car around 300-400 hp when were complatley finished with it and it be my daliy driver. ( My friend has a firebird, i need to beat the 350hp). I am currently in the proceess of tearing it down, i have the motor seperated, head, block etc. and am in the process of tearing down the block. Ok fisrt up lets all ost up a parts list, and if yall have any experience with a particular brand or whatnot please feel to add that as well
    Thank you
    AL

Seems like you need to search around this performance tech area and forced induction for reference on F22 turbo builds, it's been covered. I gave you sources above to get where you need to be.

It wont take much to beat your friends 350hp camaro! First off you should shed a few un-needed pounds from your car! People claim every 100#s is a tenth a sec in the quarter! Then figure you should def go turbo. Due to keeping sohc non vtec! Here you will find that for less than a G you can pickup or scavenge a "dsm" kit, garret t3/t4 hybrid would be better, not water cooled also ball bearing but need a diff mani I believe! Then its all on internals, forged pistons is a must and if going over 300hp, rods, crank work, all studs must be high grade(arp, race engineering, etc!) Youll also need to pin your block or get a block guard, due to the fact our engines cylinders can "walk" when highly overpowered, you may need to resleeve.
          Reasearch is your friend!
Also is friend claiming 350hp, does he have dyno sheets? is this at the flywheel? Rearwheel drive cars lose 15% or sumthin due to drivetrain loss! Front wheel drive loses 10% or less! And our cars are usually lighter! I bet there are many cars on here that could beat him making less than 300-400hp. PEace! CB7 represent!

          WaC!

A half ass built h22 will smash on him. I think rear wheel drive cars lose actually more then 15% to the pavement because of the differential, drive shaft, clutch, etc. Even if it is 325-350 hp, the car is huge and bulky, not to mention the 8 cylinders its lugging around. I say if you get to around 225-250 you could probably beat him.

F22Parts.com should NEVER be considered for anything at all. All they do is sell shit for obscene markups that you can find elsewhere for a much better price. They're selling a front balance shaft seal retainer for $15 for fucks sake!!

i dont know i asked him what he had and he said 350hp for the firbrd. Its pretty quick once it gets going.
I looked at f22 parts.com and they do seem a bit high, I was doing some research threw overboost.com, they have real informative diys. I know im keeping crankshaft (if its no bent) block, and head, what brand pistons do you guys recommend? Im keeping the low compression for the turbo. And also my friend gave me a garret t25 with a sidemount intercooler, 450cc injectors and the cast iron manifold. I was looking at the turbo and he says itll spool up realy quick (like 2000rpms) but ill oly be able to reach around 12psi or so. Can any one verify this? And what do u think the forecasted hp would be with this? like 275-300? after comPlete engine rebuild?

Come on now, there is always some bad in the good, you should know that. They do sell some stuff that's hard to find in good quality form for a good price, but yea some of their things are resales and marked up. Use common sense, didn't think I needed to say this. Browse around their site and you will see they have some specialized stuff that Dave personally lined up with particular machine shops/performance part places that's not readily available on the market for F22s. In the F22 market you can't be close-minded for limited resources we have to us. I could make it so easy for people seeking for F22 parts, but I don't...they have to show me some serious drive and self-initiative before I fork over information, I really don't like lazy people.

ok guys a lil update on the project, i got the motor stripped down. THe heads are off, the intake manifold is stripped. all the parts are noice and neat in a bag wioth a label (lol, u can tell im a rookie) Im currently fighting woth the block. I removed the head and oil pan, and im a lil confused on how to dismantle the block. Should i just start taking bolts off the bottom where the oil pan was? I dont want to screw anyhthing up. And how do i post pics iup here? i want to show off my work,.

I don't like laziness either, but apparently F22Parts.com does...preying upon those that may come upon the site thinking it is the cure-all, and therefore be willing to pay the outrageous prices for their shit...

I can do anything I ever want to an F22 within a reasonable range of possibility without ever giving them a single cent of my money. If it's not available elsewhere, I can have it made at one of the shops I'm good with for less money, or do it myself.

You can use the throttle body from a vtec prelude, it is already made larger than you could possibly bore the accord's TB. You need to use the whole upper part of the intake manifold and the lower half of an accord EX intake manifold. do a search for intake manifold swap. it would probably be cheaper if you get a deal on the intake manifolds.

ok heres an update, i got the motor tore down except for the block. the manifold is stripped. The head is removed but i havent touched it yet. The lower block im currnetly taking apart. I removed the rear oil seal and am working on the oil pump section. Bad news though i gorged the balance shaft little when i tried to pop that bolt off and brace it with some clamps. I didnt notice the removal hole. hopefully it can be ground out or i can get a new one. When i get home im going to pop off the last sprocket and hopefully try to get the crank out.

Shouldn't you be measuring for "decking the block" off of the stock bottom end iternals? (piston tops) That is, before you tear the entire thing apart? That way, you have some measurements to reference when machining so your compression ends up equal across the board.....
