Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

not only that, but if you have a clutch...the revs arent going to change without the car accelerating..thats impossible with a clutch..there is a constatn physical connection there...not like a tq convertor on an auto tranny that may allow that "slip"

I have tried all 3 types...

      SRI
      stock tube with cone filter
      and
      CAI...

SRI had heatsoak issues in the summer... esp from a dead stop, like at a light... even at night while racing it happened... solution: run the CAI in summer

Stock intake tube with cone filter felt a little more better at lower rpm's but you could feel it choke at higher rpm's...picked up some lower rpm tq but lost hp in the upper... defintiely not good for top end but okay for a DD and better than the stock airbox...also had heatsoak issues but not as bad IMO... maybe it was the plastic tube not retaining so much heat?

the CAI dodn't have heatsoak issues but it did seem to choke a little at higher rpms... and it almost felt like it lost some repsonsiveness... maybe the longer tubing? Not to mention the paranoia whenever you even see a puddle...

I was running a stock airbox with stock tube for awhile... and it was alot quieter, not as responsive as any of the above but I only did it for the noise reduction...

I was tempted to try wrapping the aluminum SRI tube with something heat resistant and running it to the Stock airbox and running a tube of some sort to feed the box fresh air ala ram air style... or cold air wash style or whatever you call it...

but I'm gonna run an Iceman intake instead... it's tapered and it's plastic... and convertible form CAI to SRI...

I also have run all 3.

Personally, I have been happiest with a modified stock airbox. It flows as well as a Short Ram or Cold air, but is still about as quiet as stock.

I took the hole where the upper tube goes into the stock airbox and used a hole saw to open it up to 2". You can go 2.5 if you want, and I am getting ready to do that. Then just run either some PVC pipe or an aluminum pipe into that hole and you will be set. I used PVC just to mock it up and see if it would work, but I am going to replace it with a 2.5" peice of aluminum tubing here in the near future.

That way you can use the K+N filter you already bought with that setup. Honestly, you will have to open the engine a bit before you reach the flow restriction on the filter.

If you do decide on short ram, and you would like to sell your K+N stock replacement filter, let me know. I am interested.

AEM short ram is fine on auto tranny. They are just telling you that you should save the money by installing a cone filter on your stock tube.
