hey i needed to get some info on the msd blaster coil 2. I'm having a dizzy with external coil sent to me today and i need to know if i just use the extra spark plug wire (that comes with the kit) and simply hook it up to the msd coil. Has anybody had any experiences or done this mod? I realize its universal but is it a plug and play unit for our cars?

other reasons i'm getting an external coil are because its an easy replacement. I can get msd coils at like $25 all day long but the oem internal coil is like $70+. And since i have the leak in my dizzy the new coil i JUST bought is soaked in oil and its about to take my igniter out also. I was gonna try to replace the seal but the kit for it is like $140 and theres no guarantee the new coil and igniter will survive the seal replacement. Spending a little now to save alot later.Knowledge is power...in EVERY sense of the word

I feel MSD ignition modules & blaster coils are a definite bonus if you're engine will be running faster & with increased power. It will ensure good spark(s) and keep up in terms of spark timing. I I like the rev-limiter feature..I see it beneficial when breaking the engine in...set it at like 3000 rpms...also if you're building All-motor where all ur power will most likely be in top-end...to prevent from over revving ur engine. I'd assume this to help in bad downshifting scenarios....but I'm not sure on that. I know a couple peeps already that have trashed valves by downshifting badly when racing. Not good!
I'd suggest these for peeps with more than just I/H/E..i'm talkin like getting into your engine and really wanting to make it go.

ok i got my externally coiled dizzy on like wednesday and the msd blaster coil came in the mail on friday. Quick trip to NAPA and i had a new cap also. I managed to get the car started that same night after learning the wiring diagram for the new dizzy and my old dizzy. Theres only 2 wires you have to tap into that are coming from the dizzy. The positive wire is the black and yellow wire and the negative is the green wire...i'll take pix a little later and show how i mounted the coil and where. MSD charges like $5 for a bracket so i just went to home depot and made my one for like 96 cents. The only tricky part of the install was taking apart a spark plug wire to fit some new connections on. Getting the msd boots over the connections wasn't too fun but eventually i did it. If u guys want some pix soon just lemme know...and b4 anyone asks no i don't feel a HUGE difference...but i've seen the spark and its a bit brighter and stronger.Knowledge is power...in EVERY sense of the word

The rev limiter CANNOT prevent you from overrevving on a downshift, period.Originally posted by HondaFan81
