Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

If your using the butt dyno maybe you feel a difference. Most likely you arent gaining much but you will notice the engine rev a lil free'er.

i have UR pulley set and have driven a cb7 with the A/C removed with UR pulleys and it does make a LILTTLE difference.....if u think bout it.....either way it will. Not only are u getting rid of over 80lbs of weight (A/C system) which will help with pick-up but thats one less thing the belts have to drive=better response and quicker revs. u may gain a 1-3hp maybe. but it is still worth it totally....i am gonna be removing my A/C in a few weeks
there's more to the removal then HP gains, WEIGHT REDUCTION and less moving parts!

I had a generic UD pulley. Engine Revved a lot free'er but i went back to the OEM Pulley. As R33 Said you can put that money elsewhere to get better gains with your car.

I never had the UR set but I had the AEM set and was the worst experience I ever had out of any modification that has been on my car.

                  Benefits:
Engine revved smoother...felt similar in idea to a lightened flywheel (which i shoulda spent the money on)

That is the only benefit I had. Everything else was negative. At idle my lights dimmed but when i revved it up they would light up to normal. Eventually it killed 2 of my batteries with one of them being a BATCAP which are not cheap. After I figured out it was the pulleys killing my battery I thought maybe I had to up the alternator power only to find out that I had to use larger 4 ga wires to send the power to the battery and...meh bottom line it was the first mod I actually had to go back and uninstall and sell because of the terrible experience. I found out I would have had to upgrade a few things in order to handle the underdriving effects of the pulley set.
Others have had these and had similar effects while others have not and praise them. You might just have to hear the positive side from someone because all I have is negativity toward it.

i had a bass, huge bass cab, head, a 50 watt amp, and a 12 inch sub in the back of my wagon. when i took it out it made no differnce at all. so i dought taking the ac off is going to do anyytthiinngg for wieght reduction. there was just a thread of somone who striped there whole interior and he said all he felt was a more "peppy" acceloration or sumshit.

the ac really doens't put much drag on the engine unless your using it. so if your racing and trying to go fast jsut turn it off. personaly i enjoy the AC far too much to get rid of it. 2 things a car has to have for me to buy it are a/c and cruise control!! but thats jsut me!!

When I took my system out, my rear suspension was notably..."tighter". I never got the chance to flog it but it was probably for the better.

be a man and buy real parts? like .........?......Underdrive pulleys are a major hp gainer....and there really is no negative effects accept for a dimming of the lights which can be fixed by getting a H/O alternator. and weight reduction is a key component to racing.....for every 100lbs....thats about .1sec off the 1/4 mile. Why do u say placebo effect r33????makes no sense. but again i mean a lighter car will be peppier and be more responsive. it's as simple as weight/hp.....and almost 100lbs just by taking the A/C out is worth it. IMO thats if u r really serious bout power and racing and such.

when i took it all out i took it for a trip down my road and i really felt no differencer what so ever even in suspension (no decrease in bodyroll) trust me it surprised me too. it may be cuz i have cb9 tho i think they have a harder sus. in the back cuz of the extra wait

They probably have stiffer springs in the back...the shocks are the same though.

I just remember the back feeling more skippy over bumps, and the car being noticeably quicker. It was like losing a person's weight.

I'm seriously debating removing the A/C. That will really seal the deal as to whether I sell the car or not...
