Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

just recently installed the MSD SCI along with the blaster 2 coil/nology hotwires/NGK iridiums i've been using. all i can say is i should have done this a looooong time ago; IMO, the car starts up quicker, idle is alot smoother than before, and throttle response has definetely improved.

What exactly does the SCI and the 6a do? Do they replace the ignitor?

EDIT: At this point, if im getting into upgrading my ignition, would it be wise to upgrade the fuel pump, get some kind of FPR, and get like a chipped P28 or something?

well the 6a provides multiple spark............aka M.S.D = MULTIPLE SPARK DISCHARGE... which shoots 3 sparks during each firing of the cylinder...but once the car reaches 3000 RPM and higher...the MSD 6a really has no purpose....

the blaster SS coil...replaces ...the stock coil... and what it does is provide a spark @ 45000 volts rather than 30000 volts that the stock one does

Ahh... so right now, once my car gets above 3K, it will occasinally misfire, and has a bitch of a time crossing over to vtak. Im assuming this is spark related, and I would benifit from the SCI moreso than the 6a? What exactly does the SCI do? Is my ignitor shot?

the 6A and SCI does the same thing. no difference, besides the exterior color of the two. and at higher rpms, the MSD ignition boxes help improve overall spark throughout the rpm range.
93EXaesthetic, you've been mis-informed about the MSD having no purpose after 3k rpms. one of the main reasons why people use MSD ignition boxes is for that reason when reaching higher rpms, it helps prevent misfires.

nah, the SCI was just marketed for imports/sport compacts. if you can get the SCI for a good price, cool.. but the 6A is exactly the same thing and they're usually priced slightly less.

Sweet! Thanks man, so I should be getting...
                        -SCI (or 6A)
                        -Blaster 2 Coil
                        -MSD Distrubitor Cap
and new NGK plugs. I should probably replace the rotor too, does MSD make them? ive got OEM NGK wires, should I be upgrading those too? I bought them new when I swapped. Should this smooth out my powerband?

the majority favors the NGK wires and i see nothing wrong with them either; i'd recommend the MSD wires if you want to upgrade. and the plugs.. got some good news, i've got an extra set of NIB NGK Iridiums for the H22 (sale plug )

                            Advertising blather.
The coil will spit out what is required to jump the gap, not one volt more.

Now that im looking at stuff, if i have the SCI, I dont need to get a balast resistor w/ my coil, correct?

EDIT: For those of you that are running a JDM H22, what cap and rotor would you want to get?
