    MSD ignition install...

Ok. I am sick of waiting to install this system, so I wanna get it done. Unfortunatly, the guy I bought it off of didn't give instructions. I see the diagram on the back of the box, with a few different wires outta it. There is a white wire, and I believe it says to tap it off of an illumination wire, or yellow wire on the stock ignition harness. The red and black are obvious, though I don't know where the red wire can hook up to. As far as the black clip short wire, I know i don't need that, as it states that i don't use that and the white wire at the same time. The other 2 wires are for the blaster, and it's hooked up to the box. I jsut gotta install it all, and the distributor cap, which is self explanitory..anyone wanna help me get this all correct? Also, post pictures PLEASE!! They help me GREATLY!!!

damn, man, i installed mines like almost a year ago.

i really would help but i kinda dont remember how to install it unless im looking right at it. i wrote a DIY on how to install it on one of these forums.

do a search on this forum also run a search on

    www.accordtuner.com
    www.hondasociety.com

i put the DIY (do it yourself) instructions on one of them.

i found this also, its on a 94 accord but installations basically the same

    http://www.4sweetrides.com/MSD_Install.asp

now i remember a little so heres how:

red and black are +.....- run those to the battery.
orange and black (black=- and orange = +) run those to the negative and positive on the blaster.
now u should have, i think a red and white wire, u must run those to the negative and positive in the distributor.
heres how....remove the dist. cap. once thats removed, removed the igniter (this is if u have a 90-91 accord, 92-93 wouldnt have the igniter inside the distributor) there a 2 screws holding the igniter in place. its the biggest thing u will see once u remove the distributor. next locate the positve and the negative wires in the distributor on the igniter. u should see a - and a + on the igniter, remove those wires from the igniter and run the wires to that, make sure u leave the other ends of the wires conected run the red wire to the positive igniter wire (the black with yellow strip wire in the middle) and the white wire to the negative igniter wire (its the wire all alone on the side)

DO NOT place the igniter back in the distributor, u no longer need it, just keep it just incase u need to replace it later.

then u must run the wiresout where the other wires are ran at (so u can place the distributor cap back on

then place spark plug wires back on, and see if she starts.

hope that help, i really dont have any pics of the installation
but check out that site 4sweetrides, like i said its just like that

also make sure u got the right dist. cap.

i messed up and got the wrong msd cap.

90-91 accord u will need the 92 integra msd cap.

and they make a msd cap for the 92-93

so for those who plan to do this later dont get the 92-93 msd cap if u have a 90-91 accord, IT WILL NOT FIT

Well, as far as the distributor cap, I got the 94-97 acura integra cap, but I am assured it will work, as the guy I work with whom sold it to me used it on his civics. As far as mounting..where can I mount the blaster coil, and the sci box? The heavy red and blac kwire goes to battery and ground, but I dunno where the best points ot connect that is..the red cannot connect dirrectly to the batt, so what? Also, the sticker on the back says (for the white wire) "to points or amplifier output (connects to yellow wire of timing accessories)" What's this mean? I have a 92 ex coupe, in case this helps...I hope it will work. I do have the coil hooked up, with the black, and orange wire, but the rest I dunno. Also, what's the tach output for on the sci box? I obviously know it's for the tach, but what does it do? How do I hook it up, in case in the future I do get a tach?

the tachs just to hook up to a tach meter.
its just an easier way to install a tach meter without haven to find the rpm wire to run the tach to.

for the sci box, i have mines to the left of the battery, like right in that space in the corner. i have a short ram intake so that was the best place for me to put it.

and the blaster coil i have it.... on the side wall of the passenger side strut.

yeah , its really hard to find places to mount them being that theres not much space.
but anywheres cool long as the wires can reach place they suppose to.

and the cap....u have the right cap, the one i have is for an integra, i think 90-97

the white and the red wires go to the negative and positve for the igniter. u have a 92 accord so urs is external and i dont kno much about it. get a haynes manual and find out wheres ur igniter if u dont know, the just run the wires to the correct ones.
also find out whether u need to remove ur igniter also cause like i said for the 90-91 u do.

as for the power and ground for the SCi, mines is going right to the battery. guy i kno at a shop said thats where it goes and ive had it like that for like a year now, no problem

well, ok..thanks for the locations. That was gonna be the hardest part. The guy said he was gonna help me istall it ,but he knows nothing, so I am gonna do it all. I got my exhaust, and dc headers going on tomorrow, and I hope that everything goes smoothly. I just gotta figure this out. Anyone own a 92 accord, and know anything? I got the chilton manual, but I have yet to look it up. I then plan on getting the jdm corners, rust removed, security system and the door actuators fixed, and get my car lowered. I got eibach pro kit srpings chillin on my floor, but I might sell them for the sportline kit..

damn man...u doing it up arent u....lol

              thats the way to go

yeah man i had the same thing happen to me.

the guy i know that owns a shop was suppose to do it, he's done it plenty of times.

but i asked him can he SHOW me and all he did was say u hook this to that and this to that so i was like what!!!
then while tryna install it at his shop in the parking lot, he came out and said that he would get in trouble if i was to work on my car in the lot, then i was like.....WHAT, we do this all the time.
guess he was upset cause i asked him to show me so i wouldnt have to pay. i figured i did favors for him all the time so he could atleast do that for me. so now thats why he's no longer a friend to me.
              but anyway...

i said f it im gona do it myself..
i got on every forum, asked everyone...only a fe knew but no one really done it on an accord before.
              so i tried it.......1st time.....unsuccessful.....2nd time....unsuccessful
tried like 8 times for like 3-4 weeks.......nuffin worked.
then finally i was like, i gona do this, everythings wired right...what can it be.....
then i thought, the igniter send info to the distributor, maybe the distributors not geting any power. looked at it.
instead of wiring the + and - from the sci to the power and neg. for the distributor, i unscrewed the screws on wires to the igniter, i left the other ends of the wires on the post in teh distributor. ran the wires and place cap and spark wires back on.....prayed.... .....the started the car up, i was happy as shit...lol

yeah so for me, i like doing stuff myself if its something i kno i can do
