Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Launch Controller

Its not what you think! (It might be tho...)

I got this launch controller from ImportIntelligence.com.

I just wanted to know, is it bad if I abuse it? 1st off, It lauches my car to whatever I set it. 2nd, it cuts fuel from my motor.

What are the Cons of using this unit?

Im afraid I might break something if I constantly use it.

Depends on how you use it. Yes IMO its bad for teh engine if you hold it there too long.

IMO, just get uberdata 1.7 with FTL and the fuel cut

why not just get a msd with 2step... or you can just learn how to drive/launch... then you wont really need either.

well, there are 2 types of "launch controllers"

              1. the ones that do the fuel cut(uber/crome)

              2. the ones that cut spark off(msd)

now, think about this. the first one is cutting fuel off right? this makes for LEAN conditions, which is bad for your engine.

the second one cuts off spark, which really doesnt do much harm besides maybe fill your cylinders with fuel.

I duno, thats just my thinking. Id rather get the msd if I had the money, but since I dont, i go with ftl on uberdata. its not THAT bad, but just like anything, with time it can be bad.

I have the uber-set one. At the mph it's set for, it cuts out at 3500 in 1st gear... it's being fixed.

Just don't over-use it and it'll be fine. There's really no need to use it on the street, so save it for the track.

Well, the system that I have, cuts off fuel. In what way is it harmful to the motor (could you please x-plain it to me?) I guess its like cutting off Oxygen to humans???

Running lean (too much oxygen, not enough fuel) is dangerous to a motor. It creates potential for detonation (which is where fuel ignites in an uncontrolled manner, rather than the controlled burn expected). Cutting off fuel improperly can cause dome damage.

Yeah, but you cant have a lean condition with no fuel..... The fuel cut would be the better launch control because spark cut has the possibility of detonating (all that fuel unburnt in the cylinders) and/or causing cylinder washdown from too much fuel (stripping the oil from the cylinder walls, contaminating the oil) The best thing to use is fuel cut, why do you think oem's use it as a rev limiter?
