From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Pacesetter Monza Catbacks

I've heard good and bad things about Pacesetter's Monza catbacks. I've heard that they rott out and sound like complete shit and very raspy and loud and also make you actually lose a noticeable amount of power. On the other hand i've heard that they last a while, and sound deep and not raspy at all...the good are all from people who own the exhaust, but the bad seem to be people who have just heard about it or read about it. So i just need some honest input on the quality and sound of the pacesetter monza catback. And yes i know it's cheaper than apexi, greddy, etc. for a reason but some people can't afford them such as myself lol. So just to clear everything up, i want honest opinions from people who have good reasoning as to why they are bad or good. if your just going by what you read on the internet from a "review" or a "statistic" then don't post. i want input from people who have either own/have owned, or have proof to support your input.

Okay, the price-point is definitely there.... no doubt about that. The catback is about $190-200 new. I've had friends with this make of system and they liked it. I don't know about longevity as far as gauge of material, the coating, etc.

You might spend the same amount of money piecing together your own system and get slighty better sound/longevity. But for the price, I don't think it's a bad deal. If you like the kit..... get it.

well if the paint chips off that's no big deal, i can just coat them with something at the shop, but i don't want it rotting out from the inside. and even so, how long will it take to rott out?

Pacesetter sucks, stay as far away from them as possible. i have a header from them and the coating on it stripped off within 15 mins of driving.

was it a lack in performance? or just poor quality?

yea, i'm expecting any catback that i get to rust because i live in new england...basically everything rusts no matter what. i just want to see if i can save some money to put towards other things that i need. I'm more concerned with a lack of power on the catback because as long as it's at least the same or better than stock i'm happy, just don't want it being worse.

I had a pacesetter header and the paint came off as well, but it also started to crack really bad. Take a look at flowmaster or magnaflow's catback setup. I believe they are fairly cheap and those two are good companies, at least for the muscle car and truck markets.

get an OBX midpipe, its stainless and should be less than $150 shipped. then get a muffler/tail section you like, makes sure its stainless as well though...hell even go buy an OBX tail section and weld on a better muffler...that way you have all stainless pipes....

Honestly, I would go with a full Greddy or Apexi catback system. They sound good and can be had at a decent price if you shop around. Magnaflow and FlowMaster were originally designed for V8 muscle cars. I wouldn't count on those 2 being good for a 4 cyclinder engine (unless you like a raspy pure rice sound). Stick with the pros.

                        generic strut tower bar
                        hid bulbs all around
amber bumper + clear corners (soon to be amber)

as i said, I already know that greddy, apexi, etc. are better, if not the best but not everyone can afford them, i can't find a full used one for much less than a brand new one and i don't want to pay close to full price for a used exhaust, and the cheapest new setup i've found is about $400 which i can not afford right now. i don't plan on keeping the car for more than a year or so more until i pay it off so i don't want the best, i just want decent affordable parts, and pacesetter was in my price range so i wanted to know more about it.

I've had my Pacesetter exhaust since October. It is very raspy and moderately loud. I heard a lot about them rusting out, so before I put the pipes on, I drilled some 1mm holes in each of the pipes and the muffler to drain out the moisture (they rust from the inside out). So far, I haven't had any rust problems, and I notice quite a bit of water coming out of the holes on initial start up
