How to go external coil on 90 Coupe?

Ok, I've replaced coils in most of my cars before with MSD coils, but they had factory external coils. Now I'm not an idiot and I know what I'm doing, I know I need the dizzie cap that accepts voltage from an external coil, the coil wire, and the coil. But what else do I need? And also how is the wiring done? I've seen several topics on this, but none of them seem to clearly state how to just install an MSD coil and wire it up.

    Anyone have a simple explanation?

i really simple. i woudl go ahead and purchase the MSD spark plug kit cuz it will include a coil wire that you can cut to what ever length you want
    1. open up the dist cap/remove it.
    2. locate the coil, there will be a postive and negative signs on it.
    3. remove the coil
    4. splice the wires that went to the coil
    5. you ill need to purchase a 92-96 h23 dist cap
    6. drill a hole through the new cap
    7. put the 2 wires through the hole
    8. install the new cap,
    9. hook up the wires to the coil.
    10. mount it and your good to go.

p.s if im missing anything correct me.

Having the MSD box makes it easier. Cutting and crimping that coil wire sucks.

^^ thats just converting the cap, you need to move and wire up the actual coil as well..

just to make sure before I do it, I have an MSD Blaster 2 coil, coil-to-cap wire, and cap that accepts external voltage. I dont need any special rotor or anything else eh?

nopey, you should be all set. did you make sure the wire fits on the cap without requiring one of those msd posts?
