Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

rust prevention ... sound deadening material

hmm prolly should have put this under weight reduction...but people overlook that thread under racing

hey i am in the process of getting some dry ice.. and removing the sound deading material .. i have noticed that a small patch of the material is already exposed..and i see that a small amount of rust has formed...

im wondering if i strip my sound deading material will this occur over the entire vehicle
im thinking the solution to fix this..would be to spray paint the floor black ... im not sure if its gonna rust completely through or not. anybody else remove sound deading material? any other suggestions for keeping rust out other than spray paint... thx

Once you remove all the sound deadning material and uncover any more cancer aka rust, try to sand off as much as you can using a Dremmell or low grit sand paper.

Spray paint is good, but it's not great. Try to get your hands on some tar. Yes, tar. Home Depot should sell a bucket of black tar. Smear that shiznit over the rust spots. You should be good to go.

...Tar is kinda heavy, but this is a weird application. You want to acheive weight reduction but fight rust... i can never win

    good luck!
