The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

    Bwahhh = Vtec?

    Hey,

I swear my VTEC doesnt work...I have an H22 with a VAFC. VTEC is set at 4700. I checked my oil level and I only go past 4700 when my engine is at driving temp.

I hear the BWAHHHH but I dont really get a pull from it. Its weak...

    Whats wrong with my VTACK?!

if you drive an tuned h22 you wont feel that sudden lurch of vtec engaging. it doesn't feel like it's pulling as hard but it is. when you have your ecu tuned on a dyno you set the vtec point really high like 8k and do a pull to plot the low cam power. next you set vtec really low like 3k and do another pull to plot the high cam. wherever the low cam power drops off is where you want to enable vtec. that is why you dont feel it engage on a tuned ecu...the car is pulling hard through the whole power band utilizing the low cam all the way up and then handing it off to the high cam. dunno any easier way to explain it. i have mine set at 4900 and don't feel a kick, just the sound of vtec lol, but stock is 5200..weren't you using an lsvtec map a little bit ago? i hope you got that fixed before hitting vtec, leaning it out is not good at all...

Thats probably not the case if it is happening suddenly. And i dont agree with tuning a car like that. IF its a straight race car, fine. but for a car that you drive, you need to account for the "fun factor" not just every ounce of horse power you can pull out of it.

On your VAFC, you can monitor the VTi signal. if it doesnt switch to "on", then your VTEC isnt working

true i was just trying to explain that vtec not kicking hard isn't always a bad thing. my buddies vafc has a light for vtec and changes colors when it kicks over...are you using the vafc for tuning plus your chipped p28?

I would just ditch the vafc and go and get that shit tuned with the p28 and have it tuned well. Its less hassles and whatnot. Atleast that way ya dont shoot off codes and stuff.

VTi is signal vtec from ecu to the vafc which is basically where ecu vtec is set at. VTo is vafc set vtec. Mine comes on even though my vss is being a lil bitch. And yes i do hear the bwahhh transition.

                ok..

sorry for the lack of info. Im glad that you guys are following my build. Yes, i do have a chipped p28 but it will not be installed till mid February (whenall the parts come in).

the EcU that i have now is a virgin p13 and an untuned h22. I think im gonna get a new VTEC filter and gasket and see how that goes.
The VAFC is installed but I dont use it. I just got it bc my friend told me that I needed it. People tell me that i can do some serious damage with the VAFC so i never touched it.

                thanks guys,

I forgot where its at but its a setting that deletes everything stored on the vafc if yo ubought it used. I did that and just set vtec. Havent played with the tuning yet but yea.

Try cleaning out the vtec solenoid with carb cleaner (when u pull it off the head) ( 3 10mm bolts) remove the screen clean it out good and clean all up in there then reinstall.. if no change try running a switch from the power wire of the vtec solenoid to the battery.. u know.. like u would for some strobes or something..
vtec sol-----switch-----12v and activate it before ur set vtec activation on the vafc.. if its set at 4800 flip the switch around 4200... just to see if it is infact engaging.. if it is then u got other problems (probably settings within the vafc) make sure u got the tps setup right 6in and 6 out if its not engaging.. ur vtec sol might be bad unless the ground wire is toast..

as for the whole tuning the low cam and high cam separately.. thats USUALLY what i do when standalone tuning.. but i agree with eric the fun factor is what makes the owner feel his car is powerful.. and fun to drive day in and day out.. so i richen it up some 500rpm before vtec..so when it hits.. it hits hard.. (this is at the discretion of the owner if they want this done or not)

my VTEC wasnt working once because of blockage of the oil pick-up......due to a HUGE dent on my oil pan. I took off the oil pan...dented it back out and BAM VTEC !

I always set it where the low cam and high cam make the same amount of power on the dyno. Its senseless to run on the low cam until 5200 if the high cam starts making more power than the small cam at 4600.
