Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Cam gear screws ?

Ok when i got my cam installed i also got a AEM cam gear installed.
if u kno about the AEm 1gen cam gears the screws u use to adjust the cam round off very easily.
i played around with adjusting the cam gear like 3 tims and now the screws are shot. so if i was to try to adjust them now i wouldnt beable to tighten them back up. i want to set my cam gear back to -0- right now its at -4- advanced for low end.

do u all think i can just use different screws, like replace the ones used with the same size screws?
    thanks.
    Theo-

p.s.- i kno u can help me out with this one Fizz....

Yeah you can use another screw. You might even be able to find the same exact stainless steel screw at certian hardware stores.

Down here in Miami there are certian Ace and True Value hardware stores that still do actually carry a variety of fasterners.

I hear allot of people complaining about those AEM cam gears but you know I had one on my F22B1 and I adjusted the piss out of it at least 20 times and never stripped out anything or had it lossen up. If you use the right size allen key and have it inserted completely you should be ok.

Once you find the setting you car runs best at using red lock tite on the bolts wouldn't be a bad idea.

Maybe your over-torquing the screw. Either just snug them up with a lil extra umf, or find right torque specs. Also, like BustedLX said, go buy some from ACE or whatever and maybe even go grade 8...they are stronger.

i found out u have to tighten them donw, found out the hard way.
one time i didnt do them as tight as it suppose to be and like 40 miles later i notice a difference in the throttle. the cam gear had retared itself all the way to -10- . i was like what the hell.
so u have to really tighten them so it wont shift on its own.
but its the screws, alot of folks i kno and post i read on them say that they have the same problem, think thats why AEM created a new generation cam gear with i think 6 screws.
