Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

im going to be retaining the stock crank because from what ive been told and researched, they hold up very well under modified applications.

img onna have to ask my boss about knife edging as well. i was just taught how to balance cranks last week

Well most stock cranks on Honda's are forged from the factory so they are basically built from the start. I dont see many people mess with them unless they decide to move onto bigger things.

I mean, I don't want to knock it because its a proven way to free up some horsepower. If you need as much HP as possible, like a funny car would, I would do it. And thats because you need to rebuild the engine after every run. For a car that you possibly want to use on the street, its a pure waste IMO. Especially when you have other easier options available.

^^ Agreed. Most of these applications are used in racing applications where every little bit of hp counts. And true on rebuilding motors. Most of these motors last a race even two if they are lucky. Top Fuel Dragsters have to get there motor rebuilt every run they go basically. They only have the lifespan of doing the burnout/running down the track/and going back to pit lane before having there stuff torn apart and put back together again. This would be good if your building something for track use but for DD'ing and reliability I dont think its a good idea.

Everythings been coverd ,reduces windage, not reliable for street cauze your lose material.

Isnt lighting and balancing the same thing ? Why would cryo dipping be better ?
Oh and Skunk2 does knicfe egde might be part of the reason they blew a motor out.

lightening and balancing is not the same thing.
taking material off doesnt make it rotationally balanced.

cryo treatment makes the product stronger.

Knife-edging a crank also would put less of the rotating mass on the outside. Not a wise idea for an OEM piece that hasnt been designed for that.

i figure leave well enough alone and cry dip crank and rods / / / pistons?

**rant- every one does realize that with all the money spent on a honda to make 350-550 HP you could purchas a Z28 drop gears upgrade clutch and fly wheel intake header x pipes and a tune chip with nitrous and get a slicker car and maybe even faster? seriously off bat you looking at 12.9's it takes at leas I SAY 3k to get any where near 12.9 in a CB7 and another 3K to get faster and more reliable another 3K and its full race not street driven . **end rant

Thats pretty retarded to say concidering i made 315 wheel horse power with only 2300 dollars and i run 12.9's. is not a matter of the car is all about choosing correct parts and propper tuning. its the same in the v8 world. yes i could by an american v8 and put just as much money into it but for the same power to dollar ratio id be buying shit parts for a v8 to make the same power as good parts with more power capabilitly on a 4 cylinder. thats my rant but hey who am i to talk im only about to be the most powerful f22 turbo here so...... oh wait i allready am the most powerfull f22 turbo on here!
