Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Very general question

In terms of reliability and value, which would you guys suggest?

    I have a '93 10th Ann. w/ only 61k miles. It is an automatic.

I am looking for more power. Not a small jump as in i/h/e, but as in either a h22 swap or boost.

I know my first step is to swap to a 5 speed. Which of my two options would be the better bet? The car has to be reliable; it's my only car, and I have a 60 mile commute.

This engine is really low mileage and clean, so I would kinda' hate to rip it out. Is it feasible to have a reliable turbo setup? I browse the turbo forums, and there seems to be a lot of problem threads.

I would love to hear from some guys who have had either for a length of time.

I love this car, but I just have to have a stick and some more power. Money isn't a huge issue here, as long as it's not outrageous. If I can find an option that doesn't hugely jeopardize reliability, I would love to keep this car. Otherwise, it looks like I'm in the market for one of those newer accords with the v6 and a 6speed.

Thanks for your time guys. I've searched around, but haven't been able to find many definitive answers.

any time you boost an engine you are increasing the chance of something going wrong... you can do things to decrease those chances, but you never know... if you are gonna do a 5 spd swap i would suggest getting the jdm h22 with 5 spd lsd tranny... its likely to be more reliable than boosting an engine

an h22 swap will be great. if you want stick, that's up to you. you can always convert it like you have said. my homie has his for a couple years now and it is still running like a champ. bone stock h22 that is a pretty fast street car too.

If money isent an issue I would swap to an h22, convert to manual, re-sleeve it, add some forged pistons, rods, arp head studs and then boost it.

for daily on 6 pounds of boost you wont have any problems. the guys in the forced induction threads boost crazy because they want more. like 10-30psi. im going to be running 10psi soon, and i doubt i will have any problems. you never know.

i could hook you up with an h22 if you want to go that route.

lol... the boosted H sounds nice... how is your setup running???

Do these F22's take boost well? Or is there a lot of internal work to be done in order to handle the extra stress? Talking small amounts of boost here... 4-6psi.

h22s cant handle boost very well due to the high compression. i dont care what people say, a boosted stock h22 isnt reliable.

on the other hand an f22 is boost friendly. it has loads of parts for them, and its a low compression motor (8.5cr and the h22 is 10.1)

I would prob. suggest the H22 and auto or manual is up to you, that'd be very reliable and you could do bolt ons as you go.

Granted there's nearly endless potential in a highly boosted f22, if you're only looking for 4-6 psi on an f22, you'll probably find that much horsepower, and maybe more, in a stock h22.

                  STOCK h22. (nice and reliable)

                      or you can go simple

                      14b
                      dsm manifold
                      blue tops
                      starion intercooler

Then one day I meet a man,
He came to me and said,
"Hard work good and hard work fine,
but first take care of head"
