Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

ok i'm putting a h23 IM on my fiance's 92 accord ex with auto trans. Just wondering if you guys think I should hollow out the butterflys or leave them in and functional? I guess i'll do a poll on this. I need quick replys due to i'm doing this in about 1/2 an hour.

i heard if you take the butterflys then you low range power will suck, but you top end will benefit, dont know how much or if it is worth taking a loss in low end, but from what it sounds like our cars do good low end, but the greatest top end, so maybe will be beneficial, try it drive and see what you think

It is not as easy as you think to get rid of the butterflies. I took the butterly mechanism off mine and hollowed it out. I hollowed out the 8 holes into 1 big hole on the upper and mechanism, and as for my lower i turned the 8 passages into 4 very large tapered passages. Maybe on an all motor stock engine it may suck, but on my motor it feels awesome. As for throttle response below 4000 rpm, it takes off and revs fast with 0psi. But i kid you not, to do what i did took a long time and probably 80+hours. Gridinding didnt work for removing all the crap in there. I resorted to drilling holes and hitting it with a hammer to break the insides out. Grinding all that metel was making no progress. I could of easily hit it wrong and cracked the whole manifold i'm sure... Oh, i also had to tap and plug the holes were the butterfly flapper rod used to go. Looking at my manifold it looks stock... LOL And i used an H23 upper that throttlebody on an F22a6 lower. Works wonders...
