Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Found a good deal, need advice

Hey, I found a turbo kit from an eagle/eclipse.. So i assume that makes it DSM... anyhow, comes with turbo, internal wastegate, 4 450cc blue top fuel injectors, blow off valve and a side mount intercooler.. Seller says there is no shaft play, all in great shape..
I dont know what DSM setups are worth, but he wants $250.

Any advice? Good deal? bad deal?

$250 is a deal for all of that, if the turbo is in good shape.

find out more about the seller before you send him money. Ask for vouches.

thats the thing, its on CL.. He lives in the same city..

What should i look for in the condition of a turbo besides the obvious visual stuff?

Try and move the shaft as much as you can. Side to side play is alright as long as it's not more than a few mm. In and out shaft play is the worst. if it has any, the turbo is bad.

BUT, that doesnt mean you should walk away from the deal.

You could rebuild the turbo for about $100 bucks.
