From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Oil Pump differences

I was just broswing http://www.importperformanceparts.net/ and noticed that the f22a1 from the prelude has a different oil pump than the f22a1/4/6 in our cb7's.

    Part #'s from http://www.importperformanceparts.net/
    OPH26-HV- Prelude F22A1
    OPH20-HV- Accord F22A1/4/6

The F22B1/2 also have the same oil pump as the prelude f22a1.

    http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
Shows the same part number(93744) for both

    Prelude(No.5)
    http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...P-OIL+STRAINER
    Accord(No.7)
    http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...P-OIL+STRAINER

Anyone know what the physical differences are?

I have no idea what the difference is. They look the same on the outside. I haven't bothered to take them appart though. Both cars produce similar oil pressures... I've got an accord f22 in my prelude right now, and the gauge is constant between the 2 motors. I'd guess they think there is a sensor or something on the prelude that there isn't on the accord.

I think it's the same 'coz at hondaautomotiveparts.com if you order either one it will highlite the part if you check it on the other, meaning if you click buy on the oil pump for the prelude and then go to the oil pump for the accord it will already be highlightened (on red)

You think it has something to do with windage trays? They have different pick ups. Who knows. I guess I'll just get the one for my engine.

There's no windage tray on the prelude motor and apparently only on f22a6's too.

They're the same externally. Internally, they may be different. They function the same though.

On the F22a6 you have an oil cooler built into the oil filter housing base area. You also have a windage tray on this motor that requires a mating F22a6 oil pickup. Those are the differences I know of.

The Prelude F22a1 and All 90-93 Accord F22a1/a4/a6 oil pumps are the same according to Majestic Honda's part #'s. They all retain the same oil pressure relieve valve spring as well. So they should not be different.

TOGA has their own designations, but the OEM part should be the same.

Anyhow, I would stick with OEM when it comes to oil pumps, from personal experience. You just don't chance critical items with aftermarket quality, which is not as high as OEM. Sure you may think that aftermarket should be better/more advanced, but in most cases they are not.
