So I have a p13 ecu for my h22a. my question is (as i don't have much money right now), would it be cheaper to just get vafc, or to get a chipped p28 and get it tuned? And would vafc really be cost effective, or should I just get the p28 first?

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

dude your in for a treat when it comes to tuning. tuning is very critical. it requires time and that time comes with a pay. the vafc will control vtec, fuel and the little stuff. if your vafc goes, your back to running rich or lean. that means you need to have your vafc hooked up 24/7 to your car. mrx chipped ecus run about 160.
now heres to bad part. to tune my turboed accord its going to cost me.....
$450 just for a tune and 3 dyno runs. good luck buddy.miss my turbo cb7
moved onto volvos. dont know how that happened, just did

well.. i pretty much have a stock h22a, just i/h/e. So now what I'm getting is that vafc (in my situation) is probably the way to go, just because i don't want to spend 700-800 on a full chipped ecu, when overall the vafc (with tuning) would cost me 400-500.
but then again, that's because a local shop said they would tune the vafc for 200, just because i've been there for a lot of stuff. so they may actually discount a chipped ecu tune also, and if so, that would be the way to go.

cheapest i could find around here is $200 for an n/a and $300 for a boost tune but then you have tony at t1 and he charges $500 for the tune and then anywhere from $150-$400 extra depending on the program you are using to tune.
And i got a chipped p06 for $65 but your better off with a p28 since you have vtec unless you wanna get the vtec chipped into your p06 which would cost you extra anywayz. Just buy a p28 from mrx with an h22 basemap and tell him what you have done. He will be able to give you a map that may be better or worse compared to the stock h22 map. It just really depends. Im not sure how strong his maps are for the h22. Pm him lol.Last edited by chrischhorn; 06-01-2008, 09:02 PM.
