Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Wideband Decision

Hello all, I currently have an Innovate LC1, and I HATE it. The thing never works right.

So I am trying to to decide what to do.

The options that came to mind initially are.

Plx, AEM, or fixing the damn LC1.

I just want to know what other people's opinions are.

Just so you know I am running neptune rtp and will be connecting to that.

    Knowledgeable opinions welcome

    Bump

Bump because very few people read the ecu tuning sub forum.

My lc1 worked perfectly for like a whole year until someone decided to steal my gauge. Now I have everything but the gauge lol. I'd make sure you read the install instructions and go back over your wiring. Also make sure it is calibrated. If you're having trouble with it, buying a more expensive one isn't always going to help.

          Correctly installing the LC1

Believe me, I have correctly installed the LC1.

In fact I have correctly installed it many times.

I get multiple codes at a variety of times. I get code eight, code 2, it decides to recalibrate itself while driving.

It goes into warm up mode under engine load. The thing has issues.

For those that want additional information

My grounding setup is through a distribution block with the heater core wires on a separate lug, the remaining wires are all on separate lugs and grounded with what started out as 10 gauge and got upgraded to 8 when I had issues.

I have run the ground from engine block (supposedly most reliable), thermostat housing, and chassis.

I have run my 12v source from cig lighter, main relay, and direct from battery

all of these configurations have given me issues.

I believe in innovate, and have had fairly good responses from their support staff, however if you are going to buy one of their wide bands I highly recommend getting the LM2. I have installed and tuned on an LM1 on another vehicle and they have much better reliability reviews.

Since this is not a track car I believe I am currently leaning toward the PLX unit, in case anyone wants to know.

EDIT: I should mention that the LC1 worked fine for a few month and then began developing issues.

I had the unit bought, but not installed for almost a year, so my warranty was void before it ever got installed.

LM-2 Innovative is bad ass, I love it. Wouldn't switch it out otherwise!!!

reads into ecu and readout display with its own datalogging record to a SD card.

so yah! I love it, but it was a pretty penny!

hmm that's too bad, I had a great experience with them. I did read alot of negative posts about them on lots of different forums. Maybe I was just lucky

Try using the NGK AFX wideband, I have that one, Everything works great. Display is clear and I set it up for quick disconnect.

The LC1 is junk. Their forums are full of problems with the unit and when I worked at Haltech, we sold them for a while, but eventually had to stop. They were too problematic.

Though I am biased, the haltech wideband is a very good unit. We had it manufactured to be easy to install and calibrate, very reliable piece.

The AFX is a good wideband, and I have not had experience with the AEM units, but I had a lot of complaints with the guage reading being off from what the sensor was actually reading or what it was sending to the ecu. Never used one, but I heard that complaint a lot at our training seminars from AEM tuners/dealers.

The LM1 is a good choice as well. But the LC1 sucks anus. I went through 3 sensors in one year and 2 control boxes in 6 months.

Ive been running the PLX SM-AFR with the gauge. I have it on at all times, it's been over a year and absolutely no problems with it (knocks on wood)
